Bangkok’s canals are breaking under the greatest rain in 20 years. Tuesday night’s rainfall flooded waterways. Bang Khen has received 170 mm of rain since Tuesday, the most in 20 years, according to the governor.
Kong Prem Prachakon and Klong Lat Phrao canals are currently flooding. The Bang Khen roundabout and new electric rails are inundated. The governor said the new pipes hindered drainage, causing the floods.

The Thai Cabinet authorized a $1.6 billion budget Wednesday to combat flooding. New water pumps cost 664 million baht, and wet/dry water management costs 912 million baht.
