In a distressing turn of events, a widely recognized tutoring academy in Pathum Thani has become the focal point of a serious controversy. The institution’s proprietor, Pairat Pipitwatthanaphol, a 52-year-old man, has found himself facing deeply troubling allegations. Accusations of rape and sexual molestation involving three students have sent shockwaves through the local community. The legal wheels started turning when Pavena Hongsakul, the distinguished founder of the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women, took a decisive step by lodging a formal complaint, thus setting off a chain of investigations.

The gravity of the situation became evident when Ms. Pavena ushered not just one, but three families into the office of Pol Col Wiwat Assawawiboon, at the helm of the Muang district police station. These families courageously stepped forward, lending their voices to accounts of sexual misconduct against children, their ages spanning 14, 15, and 18.

Alarm bells first rang when the parents of an 18-year-old girl confided in Ms. Pavena. Their daughter, a dedicated Mathayom Suksa 6 (equivalent to Grade 12) student, harbored dreams of a pharmacy career. With aspirations in mind, she enrolled at Mr. Pairat’s school, renowned for paving students’ pathways into medicine faculties. Her journey in this school began as early as Mathayom Suksa 2, a testament to her dedication to academics and her trust in the institution.

The narrative took a harrowing twist with claims that the suspect committed the reprehensible act of rape against their daughter following a class on October 19th of the previous year. According to the parents, the horror didn’t end there, as subsequent assaults ensued. Yet, grappling with fear and confusion, the young girl resolved to persist with her studies. However, by December 15th, after enduring the GAT/PAT examination rigors, she mustered the courage to disclose the ordeal to her parents, expressing her desire to sever ties with the institution forever.

Fuelled by determination, the parents reached out to Ms. Pavena on December 17th. What followed was a revelation that the 18-year-old wasn’t the solitary victim; two other students, aged 14 and 15, had also fallen prey to Mr. Pairat’s vile actions, as confided by the older girl during their discussion. In light of this information, Ms. Pavena wasted no time in alerting the parents of these additional victims.

The Pathum Thani Provincial Court sanctioned a warrant for Mr. Pairat’s arrest following the medical corroboration of the allegations made by the courageous 18-year-old. With the legal machinery in motion, efforts are underway to present Mr. Pairat before the court post-interrogation. Authorities, spearheaded by Pol Col Wiwat, are adamantly opposed to granting bail and are committed to ensuring his confinement, pending legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, it is anticipated that formal charges by the parents of the 14 and 15-year-olds are imminent, further reinforcing the case against the tutoring school owner. As this grim saga unfolds, it underscores not only the resilience of the victims and their families but also the critical importance of accountability and justice in safeguarding the educational sanctuaries meant for learning, not suffering.

This is sickening! How could this happen in a place where students are supposed to feel safe?

Every system has its bad apples. Let’s wait for the full investigation before we jump to conclusions.

I get that, but the accusations are quite severe. We need to trust the victims.

Exactly, if we don’t support them, who will? Silence will only embolden predators.

This just goes to show why it’s crucial to have more women in leadership positions, like Ms. Pavena.

I’m just shocked. Weren’t there any warning signs or past complaints?

If these allegations are true, we need to overhaul how educational institutions vet their staff.

But no system is foolproof. Better psychological evaluations might help though.

Regular auditing and independent oversight could prevent these situations.

Why did it take so long for the victims to come forward? This should have been addressed sooner.

Fear and manipulation play major roles in cases like these. Victims often feel very isolated.

      • User1234 February 5, 2025

Also, systemic failings discourage them. Such an unfortunate reality.

Let’s not blame the victims here. It’s a tough situation for them!

This is why I don’t trust private tutoring centers. It’s all about the money and not enough oversight.

    • Tom February 5, 2025

Not all private centers are like that, but more regulation is definitely needed.

How about some accountability from the local authorities? How was this allowed to happen?

Indeed, but we also need environments where people can safely report these issues.
