In a startling series of events that seemed plucked straight from the pages of a strange crime novel, a Thai woman has taken to social media to reveal the bizarre antics of a local taxi driver. This tale unfolds in Nonthaburi province, not far from the bustling streets of Bangkok, where parking disputes have turned downright bizarre.
Meet the protagonist, or rather the victim, of this bizarre saga – Thitima, a 40-year-old woman who’s found herself the target of a taxi driver with a rather unsavory method of expressing his displeasure. The antagonist in this story, an unnamed taxi driver, has taken territorial disputes to an entirely new, albeit grimy, level of madness.
The saga began in a typically mundane setting: a public area near a bus stop on the Bang Si Meuang–Wat Bot Don Prom Road in Nonthaburi. Here, our dastardly taxi driver staked his claim, refusing to share the space with any other vehicles – a crime against parking decency! When Thitima and other brave souls dared to park there, the driver retaliated in a way only scoundrels of his ilk might dream up: by launching bags filled with foul excrement at their vehicles.
Thitima, equipped with fortitude and a smartphone, documented her befouled windscreen and took her message to the internet with fervor. In a Facebook post, she spoke of the lunacy she’d endured not once, nor twice, but eight times since February. Her Facebook broadcast served as a warning to others and painted a rather vivid picture of her soiled automobile. But bags of poop weren’t the only tools in his twisted toolbox; he was also known to sprinkle nails under car tires, turning parking shenanigans into a vehicular obstacle course.
A hero in the form of CCTV footage emerged, capturing the suspiciously bright white and pink taxi skulking behind Thitima’s yellow car. The grainy footage, as shared by Thitima online, revealed the rogue driver’s modus operandi: he casually exits his taxi, takes a leisurely perch on a nearby bench, and then methodically marches to fling his excrement-filled payload at Thitima’s unsuspecting car. Then, like a character vanishing into the night in a thrilling mystery, he drives away without a trace.
Adding another twist to our story, keyboard detectives of the internet chipped in with gossip: our poop-flinging taxi driver once crashed his vehicle into a local house at another ‘preferred’ waiting spot. While Thitima has reported these ghastly happenings to the police, it seems the wheels of justice turn slowly, if at all, as the perpetrator remains at large without any new developments bafflingly emerging from the authorities’ briefcases.
As Thitima’s ordeal paints a wild tale of parking disputes gone awry, it’s not the only stomach-turning episode in the annals of Thai crime drama. Take, for instance, an episode straight from a horror show’s storyboard, featuring Thai singer Teerasak “Ko” Phantujariya. In another bizarre episode in May 2023, Ko recounted how a neighbor, apparently starring in his own psycho-thriller, went on an unhinged spree attacking Ko’s car with a hammer, drenching his home in urine and feces, and even dousing an employee in liquid acid.
While the world watches with bated breath for the police to resolve Thitima’s tale, one can only wonder what further twisted tales the streets of nonchalant Nonthaburi might yet hide. Until then, parkers in this ordinary Thai province would do well to watch their backs—and their windscreens.
