In today’s business landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is paving the way for unprecedented innovation, increasing productivity exponentially, and encouraging seamless cooperation across different generations. The surge in AI has led to the establishment of more than 14,700 AI startups in the United States alone, as identified by McKinsey, and new startups are coming into existence every day.

Future predictions suggest that, thanks to AI’s far-reaching potential and the rapid rate of digitisation, between 30% and 40% of current jobs are set to be automated. In addition, AI can augment from 50 to 60% of job tasks, bringing about a massive transformation in 300 million full-time roles by 2030. And it doesn’t stop there. It’s anticipated that 14% of the workforce will be seeking new career paths due to the transformative impact of AI and digitisation.

Companies’ reactions to this burgeoning trend are quite diverse. While some organisations have banned the usage of AI due to possible breaches of confidentiality, there are many who have established comprehensive guidelines for AI application. Some companies are even taking a step further by creating their AI systems. Nevertheless, early AI adopters can be found in every quarter of the corporate world. The survival and prosperity of an organisation are likely to depend on how proficiently they can exploit this novel technology, hence it’s vital to embark on the AI adoption journey now to prevent being left behind.

A perfect example is a product team that faced a challenging task: they had to create persuasive brochures for an unfamiliar product and generate proposals within a constrained timeframe and limited resources. The solution? They turned to AI. They embarked on their AI journey with Google, diving into AI tools, both free and paid, that could meet the demands of their tasks. They participated in trial tests, browsed TikTok for product reviews, and filtered out inferior AI solutions. Each team member was assigned an AI tool for individual application.

By fostering a collective learning space, the team propelled their AI skills to new heights. They explored various AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gamma, APP, Canva AI, and Beautiful.AI, and shared their experiences. As a result, they developed unique proposal styles that sold for over one million baht and promptly adapted the existing proposals. With AI, they managed to finish more tasks on weekly basis, enhancing their productivity from two or three tasks to five to seven tasks of the same quality.

The team leader noted a significant reduction in the time taken to complete specific tasks, from a day to an hour. Despite annually producing a comparable number of proposals, the teamwork felt more gratifying and stress-free. They continue striving to discover advanced AI tools that can assist them in producing proposals and setting up presentations.

On a large-scale implementation context, AI’s adoption across an organization might seem an overwhelming initiative, but it can be surprisingly manageable with the right strategy and creativity. The key is to foster a continuous learning experience rather than a single event. For instance, in a monthly all-hands meeting, everyone was handed a task that could only be completed with the use of AI: becoming journalists for an hour, writing a newspaper article, creating a video clip, or designing images for an article.

While it’s still early days, we have already noticed a significant increase in AI adoption and the journey has pleasantly surprised everyone. There is a hopeful future ahead for positive transformations in the workforce as more businesses capitalize on AI’s potential. As the old aphorism advises, “old ways won’t open new doors,” it is, therefore, high time to think of innovative ways to incorporate AI into work. Survival in today’s fast-paced world could mean adopting AI in all work processes at the earliest.
