Authorities are currently pursuing a 54-year-old man, Natthawat Donmon, the prime suspect of a shooting incident that left two people injured at Mae Klong Dam Golf Course in Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi province. The Kanchanaburi Provincial Court has issued a warrant for his arrest following the tragic event.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:40 pm on Wednesday when Mr. Natthawat allegedly opened fire on his 35-year-old girlfriend, Soisuda Kham-ong, while she was playing golf at the seventh hole. Soisuda, who works as a caddy at a renowned golf course in Ratchaburi, sustained gunshot wounds to her chest and right shoulder. She was subsequently hospitalized in Ratchaburi, her native province, and currently receiving treatment for her injuries.
Following the attack on his girlfriend, the suspect continued his shooting spree by targeting the manager of Mae Klong Dam Golf Course, 67-year-old Kriangsak Chaiwanarom. Kriangsak, who was a retired irrigation official, was playing golf at the ninth hole when he was shot under the chin with a 9mm pistol. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning at Makarak Hospital in Tha Maka district, Kanchanaburi.
Police managed to identify Mr. Natthawat as the suspect after interviewing eyewitnesses who were playing golf with the injured woman at the time of the incident. They recounted that the gunman had used a golf cart to approach his victims. Additionally, CCTV footage showed the suspect driving a silver Isuzu MU-7 with Bangkok license plates from Kanchanaburi to Bangkok on Wednesday evening after the shooting took place. He subsequently turned off his mobile phone, in an apparent attempt to hinder police tracking efforts.
Investigators found three spent bullet shells at the seventh hole and four cartridges at the ninth hole, providing further evidence of the shooting’s severity. According to Pol Col Sarawut Srisangworn, chief of the Tha Muang station, the gunman began his onslaught by targeting his girlfriend while she was playing golf with her fellow caddy friends, before moving on to the golf course manager.
Authorities believe that a love affair might be the primary motive behind the violent crime. They continue to put every effort into locating and apprehending the suspect, hoping to bring justice to the victims and their families.
