In the enchanting world of Thai politics, where intrigue often dances hand in hand with sharp wit, a name emerged from the symphony of voices that echo along the meandering Mekong River, branching out to the heart of every town in the Northeast. This name was none other than Pita Limjaroenrat, an erstwhile helmsman of the vibrant Move Forward Party. Pita’s star rose high enough to outshine the political firmament, securing for him the coveted “Politician of the Year” laurel, as per the E-Saan Poll, dazzlingly orchestrated by the sagacious academics within the walls of Khon Kaen University’s distinguished faculty of economics.

It was under the meticulous scrutiny of Assoc Prof Sutin Wianwiwat, and his team of surveyors, that the realms of public opinion were delved into. Not once, but twice, like a legendary hero proving his mettle—a survey from midsummer’s July to the festive chills of December—where over two thousand souls from 20 provinces lent their voices, crafting a narrative of recognition in twelve different fields.

And so it was, that 34% of the assembled voices resonated in favor of Pita, leaving Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the emerging face of the Pheu Thai Party, trailing with a hearty 15%, while Srettha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, basked in the glow of 9.5% of the respondents’ favor.

When it came to crowning the “Organization for Society of the Year,” PTT Plc triumphed, while the benevolent Mirror Foundation followed closely on its heels. Yet, the CP Group could not be overshadowed, as it too garnered admiration.

The quest for the “Social Activist of the Year” found Chuwit Kamolvisit ruling the roost, a testament to his indomitable spirit, with Panadda “Boom” Wongphudee and Rangsiman Rome igniting sparks of inspiration in their rightful places in the rankings.

As for the broadcasters of tales and tellers of truths, Channel 3 HD’s gleam outshone Channel 7 HD and Thairath TV in the race for “TV Station of the Year,” while in the duel of the diligent digests of news, Thairath’s website proudly claimed the “Newspaper/Website of the Year,” leaving Matichon and Dailynews to round out the podium.

The stars of the screen also had their deeds inscribed in the annals with Nadech Kugimiya and Bella Ranee Campen reigning supreme as “Actor” and “Actress of the Year” respectively, their charm and prowess unassailable in the vast tapestry of thespian talent, leaving fellow luminaries Pope, James, Yaya, and Baifern shining in their wake.

As melodies swept through the air, it was Monkaen Kaenkhoon and Tai Orathai who wore the crowns of “Male Singer” and “Female Singer of the Year,” outpacing formidable contenders with their resonant voices that weave through silky paddy fields and bustling city streets alike, capturing the hearts of a nation.

Rabiabwathasilp, a name synonymous with the grace of traditional dramatic performances, delighted and enthralled to become the “Traditional Dramatic Performance Troupe of the Year,” leaving audiences spellbound and critics impressed.

When it came to the trusted bearers of news, Sorayuth Suthassanachinda emerged as the “Male News Announcer of the Year,” a testament to his unyielding credibility in a constantly shifting landscape of information, alongside Pitchayathan Chanphut who stood tall as the “Female News Announcer of the Year, her voice providing clarity amidst the cacophony of daily life.

Each name, each entity so crowned, echoes the voices of the Northeast, a narrative woven from the fabric of Thai society, reflecting the vibrant tapestry that makes up the very soul of the region—where tradition meets zeitgeist, and excellence is not merely pursued, but celebrated in the full spectrum of light.
