The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement in recognition of Shinzo Abe.
Shinzo Abe will be remembered as “a true friend of Thailand, who was committed to building the strong bonds of friendship and collaboration between Thailand and Japan in all dimensions.”
The news was made this morning by a representative for the government, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana. A government official claims that PM Prayut earlier officially expressed his deepest condolences to Shinzo Abe’s family, the people of Japan, and the Japanese government for their awful loss. As a mark of respect for Shinzo Abe, the longest-serving prime minister in Japanese history, who was fatally shot at around 11:30am on Friday, all government buildings in Thailand are obligated to display the Thai flag at half-staff today, July 11. PM Prayut will visit the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok to express his condolences to the late former leader of Japan in a respectable manner. Shinzo Abe made a big contribution to the strengthening of ties between Thailand and Japan on the political front. In 2013, Shinzo Abe visited Thailand for the first time in eleven years. Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered all governmental organizations and state-owned businesses to fly their flags at half-staff today in memory of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was killed on Friday while participating in a political campaign in the western Japanese city of Nara. Because gun violence is so uncommon in Japan and because Shinzo Abe was well-liked, the assassination of the former prime minister of Japan stunned the entire world.
