Somsak Thepsuthin, the minister of justice, sent his sincere sympathies to all 67-year-old victims and committed to providing each one with compensation in accordance with the Workmen’s Compensation Act. Yesterday’s fire tragedy was considered at a meeting of the Thai Ministry of Justice. The 67-year-old senator stated that each patient’s injuries will be considered individually when determining compensation. On August 19, I will personally present compensation to the relatives of the 17 deceased victims because the Ministry of Justice never shrugs off the suffering of its people. The minister continued, however, by saying that the injured people would receive compensation as soon as they had fully recovered. The injured victims will get a maximum of 50,000 baht, or 336 baht per day for each day they are unable to work for a year, in addition to 40,000 baht for medical costs and 20,000 baht for physical and mental rehabilitation. Lt. Cl. Palitdet Chumngern, a marine in the Royal Thai Navy, passed away at 7.54 am at Sririraj Hospital this morning, becoming the tragedy’s 17th fatality. The government will pay each family of a victim of the Mountain B fire catastrophe in Chon Buri last week 110,000 baht in compensation, the Thai Justice Minister declared. According to Somsak, the families of the deceased victims would get a total of 110,000 baht, of which 50,000 baht will cover the cost of the casualty, 20,000 will cover burial expenses, and 40,000 will cover the loss of a breadwinner. The proprietor of the nightclub, officials from Chon Buri and Sattahip, as well as numerous other groups and institutions, have already provided compensation.
