Prior to succeeding Tassapon Bijleveld as CEO of Thai AirAsia Co., Ltd. in 2018, Santisuk Klongchaiya held the positions of head of commercial and ancillary as well as a director since 2007. Klongchaiya continued, “In response to the rising demand for travel, AirAsia is introducing a number of new routes, with a focus on international travel to contribute to the growth of the economy. AirAsia will provide simple travel to Singapore with three daily flights between Don Mueang and Singapore, one daily flight between Phuket and Singapore, and four weekly flights between Chiang Mai and Singapore. Our most recent expansion will enable this. As part of the celebrations surrounding the launch of the CNX-SIN route, AirAsia is offering one-way fares beginning at 3,390 Thai Baht as part of its “Endless Colors of Singapore” promotion. Through December 4, 2022, customers can make reservations for the promotional fare via the AirAsia app, with travel beginning on February 1, 2023.
Thai AirAsia plans to launch a route between Chiang Mai and Singapore, marking the return of air travel between the two cities after more than a decade’s absence. The CEO of Thai AirAsia, Santisuk Klongchaiya, stated, “Singapore has traditionally been a popular tourist destination, with a high average load factor throughout the year.” The direct Chiang Mai-Singapore connection will make it much easier and more affordable for people in the north to travel to Singapore, as well as for those in Singapore to come to the fascinating city. The route will be economically beneficial to both of these locations. Thai AirAsia is a low-cost airline formed by the Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia and the Thai airline Asia Aviation. The airline offers service for AirAsia’s internal and international flights that depart Bangkok and other Thai locations on a regular basis. Four times per week, Airbus A320s will be utilized for travel: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The airline is preparing to increase the volume of traffic through Chiang Mai, thus they have chosen to launch new flights. Thai AirAsia will compete on this route with Scoot, which presently operates a daily A320 flight. This expansion will raise Thai AirAsia’s weekly capacity to 4,000 passengers.
