Announcing the recent conclusion of the 2023 International Mediation Competition, the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC) praised the stellar performance of the team representing the Royal Police Cadet Academy (RPCA) named THAC RPCA. This critical competition was intensely contested from the 19th to the 21st of July, from the heart of Bangkok’s Watthana district in the prestigious Bhiraj Tower.
The THAC RPCA team, which secured the commendable position of the runner-up, consisted of the very best of cadets – Nattakit Tothap, Prawanwit Champeethong, Thiraphat Bucharum, and Kornthon Chingduang. This team benefited greatly from the prolific guidance of mentors such as Pol Lt Col Siriyos Saensuk and Captain Thaksana Mektrairat. Captain Thanchanok Yiwijittakul managed the team efficiently, and the valuable advice of Supamas Kaewborisut saw them through the competition.
This esteemed competition saw participation from both local and international teams of prodigious students, with universities from all across Thailand and the globe fighting for the top spot. Competitors included teams from prestigious institutions such as Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Khon Kaen University, Singapore Management University, Jindal Global Law School, National Law University, Jodhpur, VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, and the National University of Management.
Out of such a formidable line-up, two standout teams managed to make it past the initial stages – the THAC RPCA team and the Jindal Global Law School team, with the latter clinching the top award.
The runners up, our talented RPCA team, were awarded an impressive sum of 700 US dollars, while the winners earned a grand prize of 1,500 dollars.
The 2nd THAC International Mediation Competition was methodically designed to challenge students from all walks of life to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of Alternative Dispute Resolution methods in a simulated business dispute scenario. The competition aimed to prod students to understand the finesse of mediation and its importance in dispute resolution.
The RPCA lauded its cadets for their performance, stating that it was the very first time they had ventured into an international competition. Their success was even more commendable as the THAC RPCA team was the first Thai team to ever move into the finals of this event.
This victorious outing was met with plaudits from the judges, the organisers, and their international peers alike. Bringing glory and international acclaim to the academy, the team has successfully put the RPCA on the world map.
