Get ready for an exciting mood swing from Mother Nature, as predicted by the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD). Over the next seven days, we are going to experience an enthralling play of intense rain, robust gusty winds, and an amusing drop in temperature by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. As if that wasn’t enough, the southern regions of Thailand are bracing themselves for an upsurge in rain, which, coupled with the possibility of flash floods and forest runoffs, promises to keep things interesting.

The Thai weather report for the span of November 12 to November 18 highlights a dynamic atmospheric plot. From yesterday till Wednesday, November 15, the arrival of a cold air mass or high-pressure system from China will envelope northern Thailand and the South China Sea. Brace yourself for the fun-filled onslaught of thunderstorms and strong winds during this period. The cherry on top? A quaintly cool drop in temperature.

Simultaneously, we’ll witness easterly winds cruising over the Gulf of Thailand and southern regions. A low-pressure system hovering over the Malaysian coast will join the party, resulting in increased rainfall and dramatic heavy downpours. Hold tight as from November 16 to November 18, another high-pressure system from China will make its presence known in Northern Thailand, revving up the thunderstorms and robust winds, with another satisfying dip in temperature to follow.

Watch in awe as the northeastern region’s temperature plummets 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the north and central regions—which includes our beloved Bangkok and its surroundings, as well as the eastern region—will experience a 2 to 4 degrees Celsius drop in temperature. Set your eyes on moderate waves of 1 to 2 meters in the Gulf of Thailand, while areas experiencing thunderstorms will witness waves soaring over 2 meters. The Andaman Sea too will dance with waves approximately 1-meter high, featuring thunderstorm-influenced waves towering over 2 meters.

While this atmospheric adventure unfolds, it’s advisable for our fellow citizens in northern Thailand to proceed with caution between November 12 to November 13 and November 16, avoiding open areas, beneath large trees, structures, and flimsy billboards during potential occurrences of thunderstorms and strong winds. Prepare for the heavy to extremely heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that may give rise to sudden floods and forest runoffs, especially if you’re in southern Thailand.

As temperatures drop and the fun intensifies, the northern region will feature thunderstorms covering 20% to 30% of the area from November 12 to November 13. The mercury will fluctuate between 21 to 27 degrees Celsius, reaching highs of 32 to 36 degrees Celsius. From November 17 to November 18, the weather will shift from cool to cold in the morning, dropping by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

The TMD advises everyone to keep abreast of the current Thai weather forecast and follow all necessary precautions. The situation will be constantly monitored and any urgent weather warnings will be instantly reported. So, gear up and get ready for a thrilling week of exciting weather changes from the unique perspective of a Thai local, reported by KhaoSod.
