In an adventurous endeavor, the Ministry of Culture has joined hands with numerous private bodies to present an exhilarating “Lamnam Wan Pen” event, an attraction as part of the celebrated 9th Bangkok River Festival 2023. Unfolding on the majestic banks of the flowing Chao Phraya River, the spectacle is set to occur in five modern piers in vibrant attendance.
The grand rendezvous will occur from November 25 to November 27 and is completely free to the audience. The selected fantastic piers include Asiatique The Riverfront, SOOKSIAM at ICONSIAM, The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination, Tha Maharaj, and Yodpiman River Walk. Here’s a glimpse into what each of the piers brings on the plate:
Asiatique The Riverfront: This lively pier houses an eco-conservation floating pond, exquisite Loy Krathong lantern show, community shopping outlets accompanied by a contemporary temple fair strewn with games. You can enjoy the Chill Out concert and purchase the beautiful Krathongs in student-run stalls. The cultural performances and music are set to enthrall you.
Musical highlights include the Ponglang Band, Thai country music by the Naval Band, and a stimulating performance by Sabai band headed by Somnuek Saengarun.
SOOKSIAM at ICONSIAM: Traversing the diverse Thai culture from four distinct regions, you can experience a plethora of Lanna-colored lights and click delightful photos with a 2-meter-long Sukhothai Krathong. Their Miss Noppamas AEC contest dishes out generous prices. The cultural exhibitions and artistic performances are enchanting, and so is the boat singing.
The Lhong 1919 Riverside Heritage Destination: A beautiful homage to the deity Mazu against the stunning backdrop of ancient Chinese architecture is sure to leave you spellbound. The evenings culminate in atmospheric outdoor movie screenings, adding to the magical ambiance.
Tha Maharaj: This pier exhibits a generous dash of worldwide flavors with a DIY at Loy Krathong Buffet. Revel in the retro Thai folk dance performance and engaged in captivating international game booths with the majestic night view of Chao Phraya painting a perfect backdrop. Community shops and student shops are added attractions.
Yodpiman River Walk: Here, pay homage and respect to the Shrine of His Majesty King Rama I and soak in the picturesque view by the river. Taste exotic dishes from famous establishments and explore the celebrated Flower Market bustling by the Chao Phraya River. The vibrancy of the surrounding colors, lights, and sounds around the numerous riverside shops are sure to leave a memorable imprint.
