According to Nattapon Prupongpunt, Deputy Director of the Medical Department, Bangkok Hospital Phitsanulok Branch, who made the revelation at the presentation, there are 3,800 people living with HIV in the province. The news was made yesterday at a healthcare debate on the sneaky dangers of HIV in Phitsanulok’s Crystal Conference Room. Given that the nation’s kids are the kingdom’s future, they advocated for sex education and STI awareness to be supported in schools.

Pensri Euemkep, a registered nurse from Buddhachinaraj Hospital, asked cooperation from suitable groups to make PrEP more available to Thai students. Nowadays, teens under the age of 20 make up the bulk of HIV-positive individuals, with 60% of them being high school students. On average, 150 high school students with HIV are reported each year. The Thai Post reports that 520,345 people live in Thailand and are HIV positive. According to data released on Wednesday by the Public Health Ministry, Thailand may be able to better control the AIDS situation by 2030.

Doctors and other practitioners attended the meeting along with other medical specialists from hospitals and healthcare facilities across the province. High school kids make up over 60% of all new HIV cases in that region, according to health professionals from the northern Phitsanulok province, where they assert to detect two new cases of HIV per hour.

Nattapon also urged people to take PrEP, an anti-HIV drug that protects those who are HIV-negative from contracting the disease. The drug, which has an 80 percent effectiveness rate, is used by more than a million people in Thailand. Parents should keep a careful check on their teenagers and have them evaluated if they believe they are in danger, Nattapon said. The relevant groups were advised by the health director to support condom use as well, emphasizing how doing so could effectively eradicate HIV. The majority of people who tested positive for HIV, according to Nattapon, were individuals between the ages of 30 and 60.
