In the quaint province of Phayao, Thailand, an unusual tale unfolds; the sighting of an out-of-the-ordinary, dual-tailed gecko clinging tenaciously to a wall. The residents of house number 51/1, situated in the serene and peaceful village of Honghin, regard this sighting as a lucky charm, a signal of impending fortune. Following this bizarre omen, the superstitious homeowner decides to try his luck in the lottery, using his house number.
The conspicuous geckos, of a decent size ranging between 10 and 12 centimetres, with plum body structure, make for an intriguing sight. Their two tails are identical, separated by a span of a mere 1 centimetre. Their bodies sport a muddy-brown hue while their tails beam in stark white. This odd, yet fascinating duo has managed to capture the neighbourhood’s attention, staying put in the same location since their arrival.
According to KhaoSod, a daily news outlet in Thailand, the gecko appears outside the wall of the house every day, showing no signs of unease or fear. “It’s as if they’ve made themselves at home,” the observer commented, amused and intrigued.
The house owner, Wichuda, narrated her experience about spotting the friendly two-tailed, brown-bodied, white-tailed creature around dusk, while she was engrossed in her daily TV show. The gecko would amicably crawl across the wall unhindered, becoming a familiar sight. Convinced of these unique geckos being a harbinger of good luck and wealth, she decided to use her house number – 51/1 – to purchase government lottery tickets, hoping that these unusual visitors would enhance her fortunes.
Nearly three weeks prior to this instance, another strange event had captured the locals’ awe and speculation. A resident of Mukdahan province, a 53-year-old, had stumbled upon an extremely peculiar eel-like fish. With its grotesquely intriguing yellowish-white body and menacing black eyes, it was a sight to behold. Yet, the fish proved to be a lottery charm for its finder, triggering an unbelievable streak of winning four consecutive lottery draws!
This extraordinary fish, measuring nearly 75 centimetres in length, had a semi-translucent white physique, with a complex maze of veins visible under the skin. Its luminescent body contrasted with sparkling, black eyes adding to its allure. A bamboo cage was constructed as a makeshift aquarium for this enigmatic creature, allowing the curious villagers a chance to admire it from close proximity and ‘gain some lottery fortune.
