Meet “Builkin” Putthipong Assaratanakul!
If you’re into Thai entertainment, you probably know the name Putthipong Assaratanakul, or as his fans lovingly call him, “Builkin.” Born on October 8, 1999, in Bangkok, this Thai star stands tall at 178 cm and has made waves as both an actor and a singer. When he’s not busy stealing hearts onscreen, you can catch him on Instagram @bbillkin, where he keeps his fans updated with his adventures.
The Early Years
Builkin’s journey began in the vibrant city of Bangkok. The youngest of three brothers, he had supportive parents who nurtured his knack for creativity. He was educated at Saint Gabriel’s College before moving on to Thammasat University, where he graduated with a degree in Marketing from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy.
The Spark That Ignited a Career
Builkin’s foray into the entertainment world started back in 2016, and it was nothing short of serendipitous. His first big gig was as one of the main hosts in the Thai reality TV show Love Missions. He once mentioned in an interview with The Standard POP that he plunged into entertainment purely out of passion. And boy, did it pay off!
Rising to Stardom
The year 2019 marked a turning point in Builkin’s career. He landed the role of Doctor Tao in the hugely popular drama series My Ambulance, where he acted alongside top Thai stars like Davika Hoorne and Sunny Suwanmethanont. The role catapulted him into the limelight and led to his first leading role in I Told Sunset About You. In this heartfelt series, he played alongside Krit Amnuaydechkorn, better known as PP Krit, exploring the complex layers of teenage love and identity. Fans couldn’t get enough of their chemistry, which extended off-screen as well. Builkin described PP Krit as not just a friend but family.
A Cinematic Breakthrough
2024 could be described as the “Year of Builkin,” thanks to his star-studded performance in How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies. Directed and co-written by Pat Boonnitipat and starring alongside Usha Seamkhum, the film tells the poignant story of a university dropout caring for his terminally ill grandmother. The cultural relevance of the narrative struck a chord with Thai audiences, propelling the film to become the highest-grossing Thai movie of the year and the 11th highest-grossing of all time.
The movie created waves beyond Thailand, garnering awards like the Audience Prize at the New York Asian Film Festival. The global appeal is real, with screenings planned in China, North America, and Europe later this year.
Musical Prodigy
If you thought acting was Builkin’s only talent, think again. This multifaceted star also has a thriving music career. He sang You Are My Everything, the soulful soundtrack for My Ambulance, which earned him a lot of love from his fans. He followed it up with hits like Hug in Mind, Told Sunset About You, I Promised You the Moon, and ยิ้มทั้งน้ำตา, amassing over 28 million views on YouTube.
Music lovers are in for a treat, as Builkin and PP Krit are set to perform at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on August 31st in the much-anticipated concert titled Double Trouble. Mark your calendars because this is one show you won’t want to miss!
I can’t believe Builkin is only 24 and already so accomplished. What’s everyone’s favorite role of his?
Doctor Tao in My Ambulance is iconic! No one can beat that.
I totally agree! He was such a heartthrob in that series.
Yes, My Ambulance definitely put him on the map. But isn’t his role in How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies just phenomenal?
His chemistry with Usha Seamkhum is wildly overhyped. The movie is good, but it’s the story, not the acting, that carries it.
Did you forget about I Told Sunset About You? That’s his best work by far.
The emotional depth he showed in I Told Sunset About You is incredible. It’s definitely a close second for me.
But isn’t his success more about marketing and less about talent? Showbiz is all hype these days.
I feel like his music career is underrated compared to his acting. Those songs are fire!
Totally! His YouTube views speak for themselves. I still listen to ‘You Are My Everything’ on repeat.
It’s a nice song, but let’s be real, he’s an actor first, singer second.
I love ‘I Promised You the Moon.’ It’s such a beautiful song. Can’t wait for the Double Trouble concert.
Same! Got my tickets the moment they went on sale.
Oh wow, really jealous! Enjoy the concert!
Why is everyone acting like Builkin is the second coming of entertainment? He’s good, but there are better actors out there.
Maybe, but few have his range and appeal.
He’s super talented, and his kind of versatility is rare in any industry.
I agree with marky_mark, he’s great but there’s a lot of hype driving his fame. Let’s not forget that.
I’m excited to see his international breakthrough. Could he be the next big Asian star?
He’s got potential, but the international market is tough. Let’s see how he does.
Considering how well How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies did, I think he has a real shot.
It’s curious that Hollywood hasn’t scooped him up yet. Maybe he’s waiting for the right project.
Seeing him rise from Love Missions to global fame is inspiring. Hard work pays off, folks!
Absolutely! It’s great to see someone so passionate succeed.
True, his story is a great example of following your dreams.
Where are all the environmentalists? No one cares if he supports sustainable initiatives or anything?
I wonder if he’ll explore more international roles or stick with Thai projects?
Proud to see a Thai star making it big! Have you guys checked his IG? Lots of cool updates!
Yeah, he’s so down-to-earth, despite the fame.
So what’s next for him? Any rumors about new projects?
I heard he might be in a new drama with PP Krit. Unconfirmed though.
His transition from TV to movies has been smooth, not many can pull that off.
Imagine seeing him in a Hollywood blockbuster. That would be epic!
Hollywood could use more diverse talents. He’d be a great addition.
His relationship with PP Krit on and off-screen is adorable. Genuine friendships make for better acting chemistry.
Totally! Their bond really shows in their performances.
Any haters out there saying he’s overrated should watch his work before judging.
I’ve watched most of his stuff. Still think he’s good but not spectacular.
I get that, but not everyone needs to be Daniel Day-Lewis to be great.
