An unfortunate deluge in Thailand culminated in a gruesome traffic catastrophe that claimed the lives of two Burmese labourers. This accident involved a car and a motorcycle, and it took place along Chonprathan Road within the Damnoen Saduak District nestled in Ratchaburi Province. A heavy toll was exacted as two lives were lost instantly at the site of the accident.
On the night of the tragedy, local law enforcement and healthcare providers from Damnoen Saduak Hospital were swiftly dispatched to the scene following an alert regarding a fatal car-motorcycle collision. The severity of the crash was blatant, with the extensive damage evident on the Honda vehicle, bearing licence plate Kor-9631 Nakhon Pathom. A few metres apart lay the remains of a Honda Wave motorcycle with the plate 1 Kor-6855 Nakhon Pathom, alongside an impaired trolley.
Facing this dire scenario, 42-year-old Thosaporn Lewbang, the driver of the Honda car, stood six kilometres from the accident zone anxiously waiting for the authorities. What lay amidst the wreckage were victims identified as Burmese labourers, named Zaw Lin and Maung, both aged 41. The injuries they sustained to their heads and bodies were substantial, leading to their demise.
The key details the police gathered initially revealed that the unfortunate workers were returning from a day’s work at a coconut processing facility. They embarked on this journey on their motorcycle, towing their trolley back home. Despite the atrocious weather conditions, they had to make it back to their dwelling situated at Kok Wat intersection, roughly two kilometres from the accident scene.
Alas, a heavy rainstorm was in full swing, causing visibility to plummet drastically. Our Honda driver, Tosaporn, trailing behind this pair, failed to detect the motorcycle carrying the trolley through the harsh conditions. Unable to avoid the impending disaster, he catapulted into the rear of their motorcycle at an alarming speed. The catastrophic impact slung the duo onto the road, leading to their immediate death, as was reported by KhaoSod.
Amidst all of this, Tosaporn was apprehended and implicated in this tragic traffic accident. He was escorted to Damnoen Saduak police station for in-depth interrogation. The looming charges against him include reckless driving which resulted in deaths as per the local law enforcers.
