Recent calls from the Thai police forces have urged for a clear investigation involving the suspected role of Suchanun Sucharitchinsri, popularly known as Minnie, in managing online gambling websites. The case also allegedly involves some esteemed officers, one of whom is a trusted ally of Deputy Police Chief Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn.

The demand for a probe was initiated at the Royal Thai Police (RTP) premises by Trairong Phewphan, the principal of the Legal and Litigation Office of RTP, and the head of the Police Cyber Taskforce Unit 4 (PCT4). Alongside setting guidelines for the case steps, Trairong gave his assurance to the public that the whole process has been thoroughly documented. He emphasized that the police department adheres to the law consistently.

Suchanun, already 25 years of age and a single parent to a five-year-old child, had previously negated any accusations against her in a conversation with the press. She was arrested on the 30th of July but was subsequently released on bail. She firmly rejected claims of her running online gambling sites and asserted that she was coerced into acknowledging a crime she never committed by a PCT4 officer.

Moreover, she accused this officer of forcing her to link Phakphum Phitsamai, the second head investigator of Provincial Police Region 4 and the right-hand man of Big Joke, with the case. Pictures and a video clip of her doing karaoke with Big Joke and posing with three other individuals have been widely circulated by media. However, Suchanun vehemently denies any personal association with Big Joke.

In her narrative, she was invited to several gatherings by Phakphum, and images revealing her seated on his lap and kissing his cheek have also made their way online. Suchanun admitted to engaging in a relationship with Phakphum during 2020, knowing fully well about his married status, while he was based in Loei.

Suchanun also sought advice regarding immigration labor from Khemarin, Phakphum’s younger brother. According to reports from the Bangkok Post, Phakphum and Khemarin are among the eight officers who are suspected to be involved in the illegal online gambling network.
