Currently, the gentle monsoon trough is aligning across the top part of the Gulf of Thailand and the Eastern territory. Complementing it, the prevailing southwest monsoon hovering over the Andaman Sea is set to usher sporadic bouts of heavy rain to the southern parts of the Central region. This includes Bangkok’s metropolitan zone, the East, and the entire Southern region.
The weather authority issued an alert about possible flash floods and sudden overflows. These emergency weather conditions are anticipated around the foothills near water channels and fertile lowlands. In light of these factors, the weather department cautioned all modes of transport to exercise heightened alertness while traversing across these susceptible areas.
Speaking about the probable sea conditions, the weather panel suggested that waves in the Andaman Sea, including the Gulf, might escalate to about 1 to 2 meters high. This can even rise above 2 meters during instances of thundershowers. For this reason, all sea vessels are advised to navigate with extreme caution and maintain a safe distance from areas significantly affected by the storm.
In a separate update, the department also pointed out the trajectory of tropical storm Sanba. The storm is gradually moving directionally towards Tonkin Bay situated off the northwestern coastline of Vietnam. However, it was also emphasized that this movement pattern of Sanba will not impart a direct influence on Thailand’s weather system.
