Stunning Viewpoints from Pratumnak Hill: Revitalizing Pattaya’s Tourism
From atop Pratumnak Hill, one can lusciously absorb panoramic views of Pattaya city in its entirety. This is one of the sought-after tourist sights that the city’s administration targets to revitalize in the subsequent fiscal year post-pandemic. Mayor Paramet Ngampichet of Pattaya City confirms that the prime focus for next year’s economy boost lies in reigniting the tourism sector, eagerly awaiting a refreshing comeback after the pandemic-induced hiatus.
For the upcoming fiscal year commencing October 1, the city administrators, local government colleagues, and Pattaya City executives gathered recently to deliberate on expenditure priorities, subsequently approving a hefty budget of 1.9 billion baht. A substantial part of the budget – 1.6 billion baht – is rightfully reserved for meeting fixed expenses, chalking down utility bills and salaries. The remaining financial chunk is allocated to investment purposes and development crusades.
Contrary to the predominant funds utilization, Mayor Paramet amusingly furthered that the lion’s share of the following year’s budget will be seeing momentous allocation towards resurrecting the critical tourism sector and providing a much-needed boost to the local economy. Endeavours such as the fireworks festival, Pattaya marathon, and introducing stimulating jazz festivals are among the numerous planned promotional activities employed to entice high-spending visitors.
In solidarity, the city yearns to take up fundamental infrastructure initiatives to up its game in the realm of tourism. The ultimate vision is to splendidly rise as a prominent destination serving the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) while considerably enhancing its appeal to local and international travelers alike.
Simultaneously, Mayor Paramet gleefully announced the Pattaya City council’s approval of a 336 million baht budget assigned to resume the construction of the long-impeded National Eastern Sporting Stadium project. Launching in 2008, this massive project has been languishing in the backdrop due to several obstacles like the discovery of gigantic boulders hindering drilling work. The mayor strives to bring this project back to life, hosting world-class competitions, nurturing athletic talents, and boosting tourism.
A further devastating blow arrived in 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic ushered in an unwelcome labor shortage, forcing another setback for the already suffering project. The contractors shrugged off additional responsibilities, withdrawing from the project, despite consuming a whopping 143 million baht from the budget. However, the resilient Pattaya City administration confiscated a significant 50 million baht from the abandoning firm’s guarantee, deciding to file a lawsuit to recuperate the remaining fund. The city fully intends to bring this grand vision to fruition, further elevating its position as a prime tourist destination.
The revitalizing journey has begun for Pattaya City – a landmark year filled with reenergizing projects awaits!
