Pattaya’s Kratom Cocktail Crackdown: District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon Leads Late-Night Raids

Pattaya’s law enforcers have recently dismantled an underground kratom cocktail operation infamous for brewing potent, illegal concoctions aimed at local youths. This thrilling tale unfolded under the neon glow of Pattaya’s nightlife as the police, spearheaded by District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon, moved in like a well-oiled machine. In a dramatic late-night blitz on June 10, the law swooped down on shadowy establishments, seizing an impressive haul of over 2,000 bottles of these controversial kratom 4×100 concoctions and the cough syrup used to spike them—all under the veil of starlit secrecy.

The operation was a coordinated effort, meticulously planned and executed like a scene out of a blockbuster movie. Deputy District Chief Kamphrai Laosaen, backed by the brave Bang Lamung Territorial Defence Volunteers, targeted six prime locations across the district, honing in on outlets suspected of selling these potent elixirs to teenagers. Alarming whispers had circled, and the locals had reached their limit.

Among the busts was a surprising encounter at Pathum Kratom Leaf on Soi Khao Talo, where a full-scale production line operated from within the depths of a three-storey commercial unit. The scene was eerily reminiscent of a villain’s lair in an action flick. The ground level posed as an innocuous storefront, but higher floors revealed the real story. Over 130 bottles of cough syrup, including familiar brands like Benadryl, were found on the second floor. Ascending further uncovered a brewing paradise with kratom chilling in large quantities and bags bursting with over 300 empty syrup boxes. It was a veritable den of iniquity with photo evidence courtesy of Pattaya News to immortalize the moment.

Deep in Soi Praphanimit, another hotbed of illicit activity came to light. Here, over 300 refrigerated kratom drinks lay ready for unwitting buyers. Cough syrup syringes and open containers offered an option for on-site spike-ups, potentially sealing the doom of many a thrill-seeking teen. But the real kicker? A backroom stash revealed around 1,300 bottles of cough syrup and a full set of sophisticated brewing equipment. The setup was impressive in a nefarious way, akin to a secret headquarters in some dark thriller.

Additional raids across Pattaya, Nong Prue, and broader Bang Lamung resulted in finding more than 100 bottles of kratom drinks. Each arrest, a clang on the door of crime, rang out as shop owners found themselves marched to the local police stations. District Chief Patcharapat was unequivocal in his statement, “We will not tolerate this. Anyone caught producing or selling 4×100 drinks will face arrest and prosecution, without exception.” This was a stern reminder that while kratom leaves had been decriminalized in 2022, using them to craft unauthorized food or beverages, especially with cough syrup, was a flagrant legal breach. On its own, kratom buzzes like a strong cup of joe, but when brewed into these unlawful cocktails, the risks skyrocket.

The proactive stance taken by the authorities paints a clear picture: they’re in this fight for the long haul, aiming to quell this hazardous trend bottle by bottle. It’s a reminder to all that while some thrills might sparkle like gems in the darkness, they can quickly become hazards requiring a forceful hand of justice to resolve.

This crackdown seems like a dramatic overreaction. It’s just kratom, right? Not like it’s heroin.

    • Sophia June 11, 2025

Except they were mixing it with other substances. That’s what makes it dangerous.

      • Max June 11, 2025

But aren’t there more harmful things out there being overlooked? Priorities, people!

    • Tommy June 11, 2025

Max, those dangerous concoctions target kids. That’s why it matters a lot.

  2. Taylor L June 11, 2025

Big up to District Chief Patcharapat for stepping up! Must’ve felt like a movie scene right out of a thriller, some serious action going down.

    • Chris89 June 11, 2025

True, but what happens after? Do they have the resources to keep this up continuously?

      • Taylor L June 11, 2025

Good point. It all depends on their long-term strategy and commitment.

  3. Emily R June 11, 2025

This is a great initiative. Teens need protection from bad influences. Kratom cocktails are more harmful than what they seem!

    • Sam June 11, 2025

But shouldn’t education come first? Teach them why it’s bad.

    • Emily R June 11, 2025

Education is key, Sam. But crackdown actions are necessary too, when things get out of control.

  4. johnDoe123 June 11, 2025

Why is kratom even banned? It’s a natural leaf, right?

    • Nina June 11, 2025

The issue is what they mix it with, not the kratom itself.

  5. Oliver June 11, 2025

Sounds like an overhyped bust. Headlines are just making it sound big, as usual.

  6. Jessica June 11, 2025

I hope this serves as a warning to others thinking of producing these dangerous mixes. It’s not worth the risk.

    • Dylan June 11, 2025

Others won’t heed the warning if demand is high. More to be done!

  7. Adam G June 11, 2025

They should turn some of those places into social help centers. That would prevent kids from going to the dark side.

    • Rita M June 11, 2025

Brilliant idea, Adam! Not just law enforcement but also proactive community engagement.

  8. grower134 June 11, 2025

Well, as someone who grows and uses kratom legally, this just gives it a bad name.

  9. Angela June 11, 2025

Let’s not forget, kratom can be beneficial if used correctly. It’s the misuse that’s the problem.

  10. Maddy June 11, 2025

I think there should be an awareness campaign about kratom’s legal uses versus its illegal mixing practices.

  11. Peter C June 11, 2025

Crackdowns like this are a start, but they should be followed by sustained community programs if they want long-term results.

    • Ian June 11, 2025

And counseling for offenders to stop the cycle of illegal activities.

  12. Chloe June 11, 2025

It’s the focus and dedication of the task force that’s impressive here, not just the scale of the operation.

  13. Joel June 11, 2025

I agree, seeing this kind of solid police activity instills public confidence in the law.

  14. Larry D June 11, 2025

It’s fascinating how every raid seems like it’s straight out of a crime drama.

    • grower134 June 11, 2025

Life imitating art, or art imitating life?

  15. Bethany June 11, 2025

Safety is everyone’s responsibility, not just the police. We have to talk to our kids too.
