The elite dragon troupe enroute to a much-anticipated performance in Khon Kaen, suffered an unfortunate tyre failure on their transport, turning what was expected to be a lively cultural event into a tragic catastrophe. This dreadful event took place on the historic Mittraphap Road, a mere 70 kilometres away from their final destination, turning the road almost instantaneously into a distressing tableau of chaos.
Captain Peerachat, from the Superintendent’s Department of Phon Police Station, along with his diligent team, promptly responded to distress signals about a capsized pickup truck. The particular vehicle, emblazoned with the evidence of its origin from Bangkok – a registration number of 1ป5406, was heartbreakingly discovered lying prostrate in the center of the bustling roadway.
The site was a woeful sight to behold with the sad demise of three individuals – the 34-year-old Thawatchai, the 31-year-old Khomkrit, and a young child of just 12 years going by the name ‘A’. On top of these mortalities, a staggering 15 people were badly injured.
Capt. Peerachat painfully unfolded further details, revealing that the ill-fated pickup vehicle was the possession of the well-known dragon performers, the sons of Phanthai Norasingh. The quite innocuous-looking pickup had served as a roving stage for the troupe’s apparatus and artists and sadly bore many preciously held members of the family among its unfortunate victims.
Further digging into the specific facts of the tragic journey, Capt. Peerachat disclosed that the troupe, originally numbering 23, consisting of 18 grownups and 5 children, had embarked from Bangkok with much excitement and anticipation. This ordeal dramatically shifted gears when the truck’s left rear tyre exploded unexpectedly, leading the vehicle to lose balance and finally capsize. This horrifying episode led to a dreaded outcome of three losses and 15 individuals reeling from varying injury levels, a chilling story written up in KhaoSod.
Impacted by the grave incident, emergency services were initiated and the injured were hastily transported to the nearby Phon Hospital and Khon Kaen Hospital. The extent of the horrendous event was felt when it was reported that six individuals of the injured lot were battling critical conditions, which stands testimony to the accident’s severity.
In subsequent news, more casualties arose from a fiery road mishap resulting in a fatality on Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road, in the direction of the Lak Si intersection. The accident scene was situated on a dual-lane roadway. Officers diligently handled the situation and used barriers to reroute the traffic around a bypass containing an electricity pole within the territory of the National Housing Authority.
