Captivating the attention of numerous attendees at the Sustainability Expo 2023 (SX2023), held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, was the Pracharath Rak Samakkee (PRS), an innovative social enterprise network. It was reported, at an enlightening seminar, that PRS has effectively channeled more than 2 billion baht into communities throughout Thailand. The remarkable figure was cited by Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, the esteemed president of Thai Beverage Plc (ThaiBev) and the spearhead of the Pracharath working team.
Sculpted around the ‘social enterprise’ model, the PRS network spreads its influential wing over 76 provinces in the heart of Thailand. With a keen eye on the global market, it strives unstintingly to groom community products to compete on an international stage, consequently attracting the discerning modern consumers.
Fostering 1,552 successful projects, PRS has infused an impressive 2.14 billion baht into 114,362 households since its inception seven years ago. Only last year, it sparked a financial inflow of 414 million baht, corroborated by Mr. Sirivadhanabhakdi.
Embarking on its journey, the diligent working team embraced the sufficiency economy philosophy, an enlightened principle expounded by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. Standing as the luminary for the unfolding PRS project, this philosophy continues to be the guiding light for the network. Concurrently, it takes pride in aligning with the imperial dictate of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, pledging to preserve and enlarge royal projects for the commoners’ advantage.
“Our gratitude extends to every individual who has walked with us, fueling this project’s journey over the past seven years,” expressed Mr. Thapana. He further assured that the team is propelled to elevate communities’ development further, nurturing an environment conducive to self-reliance and sustainable practices.
Suttipong Juljarern, an integral pillar in the Ministry of Interior, emphasized that local economic development presents a robust strategy to narrow income disparities and enhance the living standards of the populace. His keynotes indicated the ministry’s unwavering focus on bolstering the agricultural sector, augmenting product processing, and promoting community-based tourism. This includes fostering knowledge sharing, streamlining marketing tactics, and enhancing management practices.
Reflecting on the PRS network’s journey, Suttipong acknowledged the immense support it continually receives from political, private, academic, and civil society collaboration. Extending his hopeful vision, he urged individuals to invite religious pioneers and the media to join this robust team, thereby pushing the boundaries of the PRS network even further.
