An array of prominent routes throughout the province experienced massive inundation. Rat-U-Thit, Nanai, and Sai Nam Yen were amongst the most severely afflicted, becoming completely impassable for vehicular transit. Torrential rains caused water levels to rise significantly, leaving these main thoroughfares engulfed beneath the floodwaters.
In the midst of this chaos, numerous parked cars were found entirely submerged within the water’s encroaching tide. The deluge did not discriminate, ruthlessly invading homes and damaging buildings without prejudice. The destructive power of these extraordinary rain volumes was evident in the distressing scenes playing out across the region.
Nevertheless, as reports trickled in towards press time, the situation was beginning to show signs of improvement. The floodwaters had significantly receded in various locales, giving signs of a cautious return to relative normality. Like the calm after a ferocious storm, life was sluggishly but surely resuming its usual rhythm once again.
Yet the ordeal is far from over. The Thai Meteorological Department has forecasted that relentless thundershowers will persist through most parts of the nation come Saturday. The lower Central region is particularly anticipated to grapple with isolated bouts of heavy rainfall while the South gears up for torrential downpours.
This impending extreme weather event can be attributed to an active monsoon trough coursing across the lower Central region, East, and upper South. Complementing this, an increasingly vigorous southwest monsoon is sweeping over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf, exponentially adding to the rainfall count. So, the department warns the denizens to be braced for further, potentially severe, meteorological events during these nascent monsoon months.
