In the heart of Saraburi province, a vexing mystery has gripped the army quarters – the inexplicable vanishing of over 200,000 litres of diesel from the Ordnance Materiel Rebuild Center. This startling news was brought to light by a representative of the army. The second in command army spokesperson, Major General Sirichan Ngathong relayed that a potential anomaly was discovered after an internal army audit team scrutinized the oil use of this army unit.

As reported by the Bangkok Post, this discovery triggered an intensive investigation by the army headquarters, the results of which are eagerly anticipated. Major General Sirichan Ngathong duly noted that the procedural norm of the army entails deploying internal audit teams to efficiently manage and monitor critical supplies such as oil, explosives, weapons, and ammunition. This applies to all army installations nationwide.

Recent investigations have unveiled an alarming fact: around 215,897 litres of B7 high-speed diesel vanished from the storage facility in the 18th Military Circle of the Ordnance Materiel Rebuild Center in Saraburi last year. The significance of this report led the army headquarters to initiate a deeper investigation in June, following its report in May this year.

Meanwhile, in a parallel development, the Royal Thai Army and Police delivered a massive blow to a drug trafficking network operating across the Thailand-Laos border. Over 100,000 tablets of illicit substances were seized as a result. The meticulously planned operation exposed a drug delivery route originating from neighbouring Laos, which strategically timed distributions prior to Buddhist holy days. This practice is prevalent, as Laotians traditionally abstain from immoral activities during these revered periods.

The operation was spearheaded by the triumvirate of Rutthaphon Naowarat, the head of Buriram Provincial Police, Narongsak Phromtha, his deputy, and Kongchat Lueangsomthap, another deputy in the same department. The drug bust was conducted under the strict supervision of Wichan Krachangpoth, the deputy director of Buriram Provincial Police, who also doubles as the head of the narcotics suppression unit.

This operation was a testament to the seamless collaboration of several units, such as soldiers from the 22nd Special Warfare Group, Suranaree Task Force, the Royal Thai Army, the 26th Special Forces Regiment, and administrative officers from the districts of Mueang Buriram, Satuek, and Ban Dan, in addition to the formidable Buriram Provincial Police.
