The winds of change continued to blow when on a balmy Wednesday, the cordial meeting between Prime Minister Srettha and the esteemed Governor-General of Australia, David Hurley, at the stately Government House, paved the way for a groundbreaking agreement. The two dignitaries expressed mutual enthusiasm for a visa exemption scheme that promises to sweep away the bureaucratic cobwebs, fostering seamless travel and invigorating business interactions between the vibrant communities of Thailand and Australia.
But the ambitions of Mr. Srettha’s government soar even higher, with sights firmly set on crafting visa-free travel arrangements not only with the picturesque realms of the Schengen-visa states of Europe but also with the dynamic and diverse country of India.

The previous year, the Kingdom of Thailand welcomed approximately 28 million globetrotters, generating a handsome sum of 1.2 trillion baht in revenue. While these figures are impressive, they fall short of the glittering pre-pandemic heights of nearly 40 million visitors and 1.9 trillion baht in revenue witnessed in 2019, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
