Bangkok received 132.5mm of rain on July 20, exceeding the previous record of 108mm set on July 30, 1955. With the aid of other officials, the road’s damage was fixed. The authorities have not yet determined how much the flood damage will cost. The dangerously high water levels in the canals were dealt with by local public works workers. Officers from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation also provided assistance. Due to the flooding in Srisoothorn, authorities in neighboring Phuket districts have already issued flood warnings to their citizens, even in regions where the floodwaters have not yet risen.
Traffic police are directing vehicles through deep water as flooding chaos spreads to other portions of Phuket’s main metropolitan zone. Everybody was checked to make sure they could tolerate the water and were safe. In one municipality, officials have visited residents’ houses to help them deal with the problem as Phuket continues to endure severe flooding. Over the past two weeks, flooding has wreaked havoc in Thailand. Yesterday, the president of the Kamala Tambon Administrative Council issued a warning to eight communities in Kamala and Cherng Talay. Some of the names of the communities are Baan Bang Wan, Baan Khok Yang, Baan Nuea, Baan Hua Khuan, Baan Naka, Surin Beach, Baan Tao, and Baan Bang Tao Nok. The authorities helped the locals build sandbags to protect the entrances to their homes. Yesterday, the mayor of the municipality and Phuket Governor Narong visited homes in the Srisoothorn Municipality of the Thalang district.
