The Zoological Park Organization of Thailand is calling out to all creative minds for an exciting opportunity: design a new logo featuring their adorable and energetic new star, the young pygmy hippo, Moo Deng! This delightful little creature is set to become the face of the zoo’s official souvenirs, and you could be the mastermind behind her iconic emblem. The Director-General, Attapon Srihayrun, announced on Wednesday that the organization will reward the winning design with a cash prize of 10,000 baht. The only requirement? The logo must proudly display the name “Moo Deng”.

Entries are open until October 7, so don’t miss your chance to see your artwork immortalized. Submissions can be emailed directly to [email protected] or sent via the zoo’s official Facebook page inbox at facebook.com/ZPOTthailand.

Our star, Moo Deng, was born on July 10 at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chon Buri province. She is a bundle of joy and the seventh calf of her 25-year-old mother, and her proud 24-year-old father. The name Moo Deng was chosen through a public vote and holds a special meaning in Thai—“Moo” translates to pig, while “Deng” denotes bouncing, a nod to her lively and spirited nature.

Since her birth, Moo Deng has captured the hearts of many, turning into an unexpected social media darling. Thanks to the zoo keepers’ dedicated Facebook page, Kha Moo & the Gang, her antics and endearing ‘bounciness’ are regularly showcased to her ever-growing fanbase. Charming photos and delightful videos of Moo Deng frolicking around have made her an online sensation, bringing smiles to animal lovers far and wide.

Imagine the joy of seeing your design embraced by fans and visitors, not just in Thailand but globally! This is more than just a logo; it’s a symbol of the zoo’s mission to engage and educate the public about wildlife, all through the joyous essence of Moo Deng. So, let your creativity run wild and contribute to a piece of history. The clock is ticking, and the little hippo is waiting! Ready, set, design!

But isn’t it a bit too childish? We need to balance cuteness with professionalism.

    • Jane Smith October 2, 2024

Good point, Chris. Maybe we can blend both elements? A playful yet polished design.

The name Moo Deng is a bit confusing. People might think the hippo is a pig.

    • Jenny P. October 2, 2024

That’s true, but it also makes her more memorable in a quirky way.

    • Alex88 October 2, 2024

Fair point. Maybe the logo should clarify that she’s a hippo, not a pig.
