Residents of Pattaya advocate for the expeditious construction of public toilets at the pier

Residents of Pattaya have voiced their desire for public bathrooms to be constructed more quickly at one pier. It has been claimed that construction on the restrooms at the Bali Hai Pier has come to a halt. Following the commencement of construction in December 2020, the construction of the bathrooms was scheduled to be completed on June 14, 2021. According to reports from the regional media, the expenditure limit for the project had been set at 3.88 million Thai Baht. The 32 restrooms, however, have not yet been constructed, and reports indicate that the building site is currently overrun with waste as well as construction gear. Residents are already raising concerns about the lack of openness and safety of the project. According to an article in The Pattaya News, the previous mayor of Pattaya, Pattana Boonsawad, stated that the development was held up owing to geographic constraints as well as limits imposed by Covid-19.

Pattaya is home to a number of different piers, and the development of the Bali Hai Pier is only one of them. Even before the Covid-19 outbreak began, the Tawan Beach Pier which is located on the island of Koh Larn has been in a state of disrepair. Pattaya Deputy Manager Kiattisak Sriwongchai stated in June that the pier is scheduled to undergo maintenance in the year 2023. He stated that the renovation will involve installing new railings, walkways, and roofs.
