Governor Yuthasak Supasorn of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has just predicted that tourism revenues will reach 80% of their pre-COVID-19 levels within the next year. Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, is now hosting the 22nd World Travel & Tourism Council Global Summit. The daring declaration was made there.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was invited to participate in the conference and outline its strategy for reviving tourism as Thailand nears its goal of 10 million international visitors by the end of the year. The governor was a featured speaker on the panel titled “The Recovery of Travel in Asia and the Pacific.”
Yuthasak, as reported by the National News Bureau of Thailand, drew attention to the eco-friendlier, more sustainable, and more inclusive tourism that Thailand has developed as a result of the pandemic. After temporarily closing its borders and then progressively reopening them with a variety of quarantines, lockdowns, and limitations, Thailand’s borders have now fully reopened without restrictions, and the country is seeing a spike in foreign tourist arrivals. In the future, the TAT plans to continue its strong cooperation with the tourism industry and other industries, and it will place a primary emphasis on the creation of innovative tourism-related practices. The Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model, which has been the focal point of the government’s sustainability efforts, is also implemented in tourism promotion initiatives. The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) praised the marketing campaign known as “Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters,” which showcases the country’s most popular tourist sites as well as its newest ones. This year, Thailand has already surpassed nine million visitors, with a goal of achieving an 80% recovery of the tourism industry by 2023, which would be equivalent to around 32 million visitors. Between the beginning of the year and the end of November, nearly 9.4 million immigrants entered the country.
Currently, between 50,000 and 60,000 individuals enter the country daily via its numerous airports and land borders. This year, 1.5 million Malaysian tourists entered Thailand, preserving Malaysia’s status as the country with the biggest number of international visitors. However, as a result of the recent restart of several flights originating from Russia, the number of people traveling to Europe and other long-distance destinations has increased. In contrast to Europe’s frigid winters, Thailand has a nice climate, according to the governor of the Thailand Tourism Authority (TAT).
In 2023, it is anticipated that Thailand’s tourism will reach 80% of its pre-Covid levels
