Due to high seas, a marine turtle washed up on the shores of Phuket’s Kata Beach last week. The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources was called to the scene after a hotel employee informed them of the injured tiny snapper. According to DMCR officials, the turtle’s flippers were injured after being trapped in broken fishing nets. The turtle was also fully dry, which they noticed.
The turtle was taken to the Phuket Marine Biological Center’s wildlife rescue center, where experts believe the baby snapper will recover completely.
According to locals, a dolphin washed up on the strand of a beach in Phang Nga province, just north of Phuket, yesterday. A local citizen contacted the Royal Thai Navy about the dolphin, and officials from the navy and the Sea Turtle Conservation Centre arrived on the spot. After that, the dolphin was transferred to the Phuket Marine Biological Centre, which is located in Phuket’s main metropolitan region. Since Thailand’s early monsoon season has been unusually severe throughout the Andaman coast and in the Phuket area during the past week, heavy waves are suspected to have swept the dolphin ashore on Kuek Kak Beach in Phang Nga’s Takua Pa district. The status of the dolphin is unknown; all that is known is that it was alive when the incident occurred today. The dolphin is about 1.5 meters long.

Strong waves likely caused this dolphin to wash up on Phang Nga beach
