In the luxurious residential landscape of Samut Prakan, visuals captured by security cameras revealed an alarmingly regular incidence – a pair of thieves infiltrating a home. These felons were part of a Colombian trio that has been recently detained. Unveiling the events at a media briefing was Pol Maj Gen Wallop Araemlar, head of the Samut Prakan law enforcement agency. He affirmed that Alexandro Giovan Cuellar Pulido, Henrry Yeferson Delgado Bogota, and Ms Maricela Cifuentes Hernandez were the Colombian citizens taken into custody.
The arrest warrants against them were ratified by the Samut Prakan Provincial Court on charges of theft and conspiracy. The trio was tracked down and apprehended in the expansive Pathum Thani province. The law enforcement officials also recovered a Toyota Vios featuring Chon Buri plates, license plates from Prachuap Khiri Khan, various tool commonly used in break-ins, beanies, a sum of 32,700 baht, money in other currencies, and an array of a hundred different objects.
The arrest was triggered by the burglary at an upscale residence in Samut Prakan’s tambon Bang Muang. Pol Col Chottiwat Luangwilai, deputy chief of local police, reported the breach of security took place around 10.45pm on a seemingly common day in late August. As detailed by Pol Col Chottiwat, the thieves had argued open a safe in a second-level bedroom, making away with 200,000 baht in cash, 500 US dollars, 50,000 rupees, gold necklaces and rings, and a diamond-studded necklace worth half a million baht.
The trio didn’t limit their operation to one house per night. Next house, they moved into the same night, as revealed by the security camera visuals. A similar sequence of events unfolded on September 2nd, involving two more houses, this time in the jurisdiction of Bang Kaew police in Samut Prakan. The recurrence of these burglaries propelled the investigative machinery into action, leading to the identification and successful capture of the Colombian rogues.
The suspects were known to reside in a rented house in Chonburi province from where they embarked on their numerous burglary trips across Samut Prakan and neighboring provinces before retreating back to Chonburi. This pattern was disrupted when they sought to infiltrate another home in the Pathum Thani province. Acting on this tip-off, the officials kept a tab on their movements and were, in due course, able to detain them. They were then turned over to the investigators at Muang police station in Samut Prakan for further proceedings.
