Today’s weather outlook for July 25, predicts substantial downpour across a number of regions in Thailand, with a particular focus on the eastern, northeastern, central, and southern regions exposed to the Andaman Sea. The inhabitants of these regions are warned to stay vigilant of the possible hazards triggered by the intensive rainfall and the increasing accumulation of rainwater. The risks include sudden flood outbreaks and forest runoffs, especially prevalent in hilly terrains found near water channels and regions with low altitudes.
The precarious weather situation in Thailand can be attributed to a prominent monsoon trough coursing through the northern highlands and the northeastern zones of the country. Concurrently, a strong southwest monsoon is noticed over the higher southern region and across the breadth of the Gulf of Thailand. Meanwhile, the powerful wind currents accompanying these monsoons are set to escalate the wave conditions across the upper portions of the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.
The meteorological data points at waves reaching a significant height of 2 to 3 metres in these regions. And in the areas plagued by thunderstorms, it’s predicted that the wave heights might exceed this range, potentially reaching even greater heights. Conversely, the lower points of the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will experience moderately sized waves, staying within the 1 to 2-metre range. Again, in areas afflicted by thunderstorms, the waves are expected to cross these predicted heights.
Given the turbulent sea and weather conditions, vessel operators in the upper reaches of the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are earnestly cautioned to exercise extreme care and prudence. It would be best to avoid venturing into regions that are stricken by thunderstorms. Furthermore, for the safety of all on board, it’s highly encouraged that all small boats in these areas hold their operations and safely stay ashore during this harsh weather period. The safety of both crew and vessel should be of utmost priority amidst these trying conditions.
