In a daring theft that seems straight out of a heist movie script, a clever thief capitalized on his disguise as a food delivery rider to execute a gold robbery in Bangkok that left everyone stunned. The incident unfolded on March 25, in the bustling Bang Khae district, where an audacious crook made off with gold necklaces valued at a staggering 1.5 million baht. The gold shop, located in the lively Big C supermarket near Soi Phetchakasem 67, became the scene of this brazen caper.

The clock had barely hit mid-morning at precisely 11:36 AM when three unsuspecting employees manned the Aurora gold shop counter. Luckily, no harm came to them, despite witnessing the spectacle that followed. The entire escapade was captured on CCTV and has since caught the attention of the public as the footage shows the thief in action. Wearing a distinctive green jacket, reminiscent of a well-known food delivery app, the male perpetrator arrived at the shop with urgency. A white tote bag slung over his shoulder, he approached the counter and, in a bold maneuver, demanded the precious gold necklaces. The employees, understandably shaken, retreated rather than confront the intruder. Interestingly, the thief used no weapon to coerce them.

When the staff didn’t comply willingly, the brazen burglar took matters into his own hands—literally. He vaulted over the counter gracefully, snagging a gold necklace straight from the showcase. Swiftly placing his loot into the tote, he disappeared from the shop in a heartbeat. But the drama didn’t end there. As he made his escape through the nearby alley at Soi Phetchakasem 67, the cunning criminal met an unexpected twist of fate: a stumble! This little mishap caused him to drop several of his golden prizes behind a parked pickup truck. However, despite this slip-up, he managed to abscond with six glimmering necklaces securely in his bag.

It wasn’t long before the police arrived to track every clue. Officers later stumbled upon the discarded green jacket and tote bag, partially illuminating the thief’s escape path as he vanished further into the alley on foot. Simultaneously, a group of food delivery riders, huddled nearby waiting for orders, became unwitting witnesses. A suspicious man had indeed crossed their path; however, unbeknownst to them at the time, he was the mastermind behind the robbery.

The Phetchakasem Police Station has set wheels into motion to unmask the man behind this gold-grabbing game of cat and mouse. As the city buzzes with intrigue over this escapade, it adds to the ongoing saga of gold shop robberies. Recently, the central regions of Ayutthaya and Ratchaburi reported similar incidents. In Ayutthaya, another male thief remains on the lam after lifting 7.8 million baht in golden treasures. Yet, fortune wasn’t on every thief’s side. In Ratchaburi, a thief was nabbed just after his desperate attempt led to a capture. He later claimed financial strain as his motive, with threats of losing his house hanging over him like the sword of Damocles.

Bangkok, the energetic metropolis, never ceases to be a stage for thefts that enthrall and intrigue. This latest episode adds a vivid chapter to the city’s ongoing crime chronicles, painting a vivid picture of a thief with the audacity to pull a heist disguised as a culinary courier. Residents and people across the globe remain hooked, eagerly anticipating the moment justice will finally catch up with this elusive criminal, adding closure to the tale of the dashing delivery bandit!

Wow, using a delivery rider disguise is pretty sneaky. I wonder why the employees didn’t try to stop him?

    • Sophia L. March 26, 2025

Probably because they weren’t armed and it’s not worth the risk. Safety should come first!

      • JonnyBey March 26, 2025

True, I guess no one expects a heist like that at 11 AM. Kudos to them for staying calm.

    • Harriet_eton March 26, 2025

Exactly, they did the right thing. I’ve read confronting a thief can lead to violence, even if the thief isn’t armed.

This is beyond audacious. I think criminals are getting too clever for their own good. Why aren’t there better security measures in place?

    • DaraB_02 March 26, 2025

There’s always more that can be done, but these places can’t turn into fortresses. Costs a lot.

    • LittleMilly March 26, 2025

Better cameras aren’t enough? If they’re catching it on video, what’s the point if the man can still get away? 🤔

It’s astounding how similar these robberies are. Seems like an organized ring could be at play here.

    • OldSam March 26, 2025

Agreed, Kevin! It’s too coincidental with another in Ayutthaya. I’ve always said these crimes have overlaps.

  4. PaulieWalnutz March 26, 2025

The delivery rider angle is genius! Takes real guts to pull something like this in broad daylight.

  5. Charlie Brown March 26, 2025

The guy is brave, sure, but also kind of dumb to drop the necklaces. That’s pure luck right there.

    • SarahW March 26, 2025

Sometimes luck plays a bigger role than brains in these things. But still, if they catch him, it’s game over.

  6. ThisSideUp March 26, 2025

I feel sorry for the guy! What if he was desperate, like the Ratchaburi guy who was trying to save his house?

    • Doubter March 26, 2025

That’s no excuse for theft. We’re all struggling. Stealing isn’t the solution!

    • ThisSideUp March 26, 2025

I get that, but sometimes people feel they have no choice in a moment of panic.

Seems like more of these crimes are happening lately. What does this say about our society?

    • ReflectiveReed March 26, 2025

Perhaps it means we’re failing to address the root causes of why people turn to crime.

  8. Larry D March 26, 2025

Another day, another heist in Bangkok. It’s becoming a trend, apparently.

  9. Marj March 26, 2025

Are food delivery riders now going to be viewed suspiciously because of incidents like this?

    • Foodie_Fred March 26, 2025

I hope not! Most riders are just trying to work, and it’s unfair to judge them based on one case.

  10. CuriousKara March 26, 2025

How did he get away with that in a busy supermarket? You’d think someone would have noticed him sooner.

    • ObservantOtis March 26, 2025

Maybe because he blended in so well. Shows the power of disguise and timing.
