The company has consistently demonstrated its commitment to society and the development of human resources through initiatives like the “READ FOR BLIND” project. This pioneering initiative seeks to widen the scope of education and learning for visually impaired people by producing audiobooks. Currently, AP Thailand boasts a diverse workforce that includes 28 employees with visual impairments. This line-up reflects the company’s efforts to improve the life quality of people with disabilities. During a recent event, Ms. Tippawan Sirikoon, Deputy Chief People Officer of AP Thailand Public Co., Ltd, symbolically handed over a set of audiobooks and production equipment to Mr. Kittipong Sutthi, Director of the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, to bolster the Daisy Thailand Project of the library.
Ms. Tippawan Sirikoon expressed firmly that the company prioritizes the needs of people with disabilities. In her words, “Our support is integral in enhancing the life expectancy of these individuals, enabling them to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone in society. Our involvement in the production of audiobooks as part of the READ FOR BLIND scheme is critical to broadening the learning opportunities for visually impaired people”.
The Director of the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, Mr. Kittipong Sutthi, reiterated the crucial role volunteers play in the production of audiobooks. Statistically, over 90% of audiobooks are produced by these dedicated helpers due to fixed staff numbers and limited audiobook reading rooms. Therefore, the National Library greatly appreciates AP Thailand’s support.
Counting among AP Thailand’s esteemed workforce, 28 visually impaired individuals further emphasize AP’s commitment. Fifteen offer support at the AP team at the company’s Ratchadapisek head office, operating on a rotational basis. Concurrently, thirteen visually impaired employees are making remarkable contributions to various parts of the country. These employees are encouraged to pursue their specialty areas, from assistants to national team volleyball players, demonstrating the company’s overall mission to empower people with disabilities.
