The Ministry of Interior, in a bid to curb corruption, has established a firm alliance with various anti-corruption bodies. The senior official from the Ministry, Suttipong Juljarern, hosted a seminar to elaborate strategies and multidimensional efforts to triumph over the rampant corruption in public departments. The forum took place in the regal setting of the Royal City Hotel, Bangkok, attended by more than two hundred individuals, including a key consultant to the chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).
“Having experienced professionals from anti-corruption arenas sharing their hands-on experiences and suggestions is a privilege. It indeed serves as a motivational force for public officials to amplify their endeavors in the fight against corruption” remarked Mr. Suttipong.
He emphasized that the ministry is profoundly committed to confronting corruption as it erodes the structural functionality of state mechanisms and diminishes public trust in government affairs. The Interior Ministry, he acknowledged, has been on the receiving end of numerous corruption allegations and disciplinary offences. This was followed by Royal Thai Police and the Ministry of Education, as revealed by a 2014 report of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).
The ministry’s higher-ups have enforced policy guidelines congruent with the governance principle. They aim to solidify transparency in the state administration and capacitate public monitoring of state agencies’ operations.
Mr. Suttipong displayed a consensus among all agencies that corruption within state institutions or the private sector could instigate direct negative repercussions on the nation, thus acknowledging the necessity of innovative solutions and preventative measures. In order to achieve this, the ministry has favored collaboration with diverse networks, particularly anti-corruption bodies such as NACC and PACC, as well as private organizations promoting the eradication of corruption.
Backed by a robust team and supportive network, Mr. Suttipong expressed that the ministry holds a strong position to wage a battle against corruption. Simultaneously, it aims to incorporate awareness among state officials to strictly adhere to governance principles. The ultimate goal is to ensure maximum transparency within state organizations.
“I am deeply grateful to all the involved networks, especially the representatives from the NACC, for their input during the conference,” he acknowledged. “The insights gathered from this seminar would effectively aid us in our endeavors to eliminate every form of corruption and misconduct while enhancing public confidence.”
