Imagine a gathering where the latest digital breakthroughs mingle with the timeless quest for Halal excellence, and you have the essence of the Thailand Halal Assembly 2023. As the event unfurled its innovative petals on the 2nd and 3rd of December at the Nouvo City Hotel in the charismatic locale of Banglamphu, it was nothing short of spectacular. This year’s theme, “Digitalizing Halal Initiatives for Fostering Halal Trust”, boldy intertwined tradition with futuristic technology.
Gracing the event, dignitaries like His Excellency Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha and His Excellency Mr. Aroon Boonchom, sparkled under the elegant chandeliers as they inaugurated the proceedings. You could feel the prestige in the air, reminiscent of the event’s grand inauguration in 2014 by none other than the Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.
The Halal Science Centre at Chulalongkorn University, chaired by the distinguished Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, proudly hosted this monumental event. A legacy that began in the scenic shores of Krabi back in 2008 was now celebrating a decade of the academic conference. This year, the Assembly embraced the 10th International Halal Science and Technology Conference (IHSATEC), the 16th Halal Science and Business International Conference (HASIB), and the 9th International Halal Standards Convention.
The IHSATEC transpired as a global stage for academic prowess where researchers unveiled their groundbreaking work. The participation was impressive, with Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Pakistan leading the charge, amongst many other participating countries. What’s more, the pearls of wisdom shared by over 30 internationally renowned speakers across five transformative sessions will be adorning the pages of the Journal of Halal Science, Industry, and Business.
But aside from the deep, thought-provoking academia, the event was also a hotbed for tech enthusiasts. Digital innovations like Halal Route, the application aimed at guiding users to a kaleidoscope of Halal facilities, and the shiny Thailand Diamond Halal standardisation system left everyone in awe. Not to mention the trailblazing Diamond Halal Blockchain technology—a true gem in ensuring integrity in the Halal supply chain.
With 15 stellar innovative works from the talented scientists at the Halal Science Centre on display, the think-tank atmosphere was palpable. With over 500 attendees physically soaking in the knowledge and an additional virtual crowd of at least 5,000 from 38 countries, the conference’s vibe was truly electric and inclusive!
The Halal Science Centre’s unwavering commitment to Halal Trust shone as brightly as ever, with the event focusing on both scientific support for Halal certification and a spirited drive towards digitization of perception of Halal.
As the curtains fell on the Thailand Halal Assembly 2023, one thing remained clear: the synergy of Halal tradition and digital innovation has the power to transform, to ensure integrity, and to build a future that resonates with trust and technological brilliance. This is not just an end but a beckoning promise of even more sophisticated rendezvous of science, business, and Halal integrity in the years to come.
