Marking his presence at Khao Din, Prasae, and Sam Yan markets nestled in the heart of Muang district, Jurin Laksanavisit, the leader of the Democrat Party, was not alone. Flanked by the dynamic Watanya “Madam Dear” Bunnag – the brain behind the party’s political innovation, and a power-packed team of MPs from distinct provinces, Jurin was there to boost the image and presence of the Democrat candidate for Rayong’s constituency 3, the adept Dr Banyat Jetanachan.
An influential figure herself, Madam Dear is the better half of Nation Group’s CEO, Shine Bunnag. The complementing power couple, both masters in their respective fields, lend a dynamic aura to the region.
Jurin, the passionate party leader, mentioned that Dr Banyat is a true son of Rayong, whose heart beats for his hometown. His impressive political acumen is reflected in his triumphant track record of serving as an MP for Rayong, not once, not twice, but thrice! This stands as testimony to his tenacity and dedication. Actively involved in parliamentary matters, the diligent Banyat has seldom missed any meetings, earning him a coveted spot on the list of potential candidates for the party’s deputy spokesman role, disclosed Jurin.
While Jurin was making his strides, another political powerhouse – Pita Limjaroenrat graced the Khlong Thom market in Klaeng district with his colleagues. Being the secretary-general of the Move Forward party, his team of party-list MPs included prominent names like Chaitawat Tulathon, Wiroj Lakkhanaadisorn, Bencha Saengchantra, and Krunphol Tiansuwan.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of citizens, Pita spoke about the upcoming vote. To convey the demands and mandates of the masses to the Parliament, each vote becomes important. In a healthy democracy, citizens are not just sideline spectators but pivotal players paving the path of national growth, Pita stated eloquently.
The by-election set to happen on Sunday witnessed Move Forward fielding Phongsathorn Sornphetnarin as their candidate with only two major parties participating. Pita advocated three compelling reasons to choose Phongsathorn.
The first reason is the party’s commitment to bridging the existing economic disparity in Rayong, one of Thailand’s major growth engines. The second point embraces the democratic principle of diversity shared by both Rayong residents and Move Forward. The final reason highlights the incorruptibility of Rayong voters and Move Forward MPs. The party epitomizes authenticity, transparency, and dependability, Pita affirmed.
The dispatched Move Forward MP, Nakhonchai Khunnarong, recently vacated his seat after the Election Commission discovered his past legal issues. It turns out that the MP had a one and a half year prison term in his name dating back to 1999 for theft, leading to his resignation. The law of the land, which bans individuals with jail sentences from contesting for a House of Representatives seat, needed Rayong’s constituency 3 to fast-track the process of finding a fitting replacement.
