In the stunning seaside province of Rayong, a narrative unfolds that reads like a heart-wrenching drama woven into the fabric of this otherwise tranquil place. Imagine, for a moment, the sunny beaches and the whispering palms suddenly overshadowed by a tale of shadowy misdemeanors. Amongst such picturesque settings, two souls emerged from a place of darkness into the spotlight of a scandal that has now gripped the local community.
The epicenter of this storm? A house in the unassuming tambon Phe—a house that hides more than its walls would betray. Here, inside these walls, a cruel truth was lived by unsuspecting minors, forced into a life that no one would choose willingly. Their voices, for so long suppressed, finally found an outlet through a message to “Zoom Rayong,” a local Facebook beacon of hope. They claimed that they weren’t just locked away; they were traded like commodities in this twisted economy of flesh and addiction.
Step into the shoes of Euay, a 16-year-old with the courage of a lioness. Her story is a sobering testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Together with a friend, barely 14, they escaped the claws of captivity on November 28, and sought refuge in the arms of the law at tambon Phe police station. But when justice seemed to turn a deaf ear, they sought a different path—public attention and the support of lawyer Paisarn Ruangrit were their new allies in the fight for justice.
Euay’s account sheds light on the nefarious doings of a couple—masterminds of this brothel—who promised shelter but delivered shackles. They preyed on teenagers like Euay, luring them into a world where innocence is a currency spent quickly and without remorse. Forced to consume and sell drugs, to trade their youth for the perverse pleasures of others, these teens were entangled in a web spun by heartless spiders disguised as humans.
The price tag on these youthful souls was 1,300 baht, but what trickled down to them was a pitiful 300-400 baht—a stark reminder of their stolen autonomy. Among their clientele, Euay claimed with a heavy heart, were those sworn to protect—officers of the law themselves.
Enter Pol Col Preepahwat Chaiphetyothi, superintendent of Phe Police Station, who stepped forward to confirm the arrest and the startling discovery of ecstasy on one suspect during a health examination. Trafficking, child prostitution, and drug use—the charges are a litany of the woes inflicted by the suspects. As the suspect awaits trial at the Rayong Provincial Court, the question of law enforcement’s alleged complicity hangs in the balance, the truth of which is yet to be unearthed.
The town of Rayong continues to buzz with whispers and wonders at these revelations, a poignant reminder of the darkness that can lurk behind the façade of any community. But it’s the spirit of the youth, like Euay and her comrade, their determination to escape and demand justice, that paints a canvas of hope amidst the darkest shades of human transgressions.
