This was included in their list of the “50 Best Soups in the World” that was published on July 25. The ingredients of the dish known as Khao Soi include egg noodles, chicken, and a red curry broth. Red curry paste and coconut milk are used to make Khao Soi soup. Depending on how much curry paste is used, the heat level fluctuates. Before reaching northern Thailand in the 19th and 20th centuries, traders traveled through Burma and Laos along the Golden Triangle trade route. After that, the garnishes—crunchy noodles, fresh lime, pickled cabbage, shallots, and chilies—are applied. The meal is made more colorful by contrasting the red soup with green herbs like cilantro and lime.
Khao Soi is thought to have arrived in northern Thailand thanks to Chinese Muslim traders from Yunnan. Khao Soi is thought to be a traditional Burmese dish made with rice noodles as the foundation.
The name Khao Soi literally means “cut rice,” despite the fact that the dish is created using noodles.
But over time, egg noodles gained acceptance and popularity.
Two more Thai dishes, Tom Yum Kung and Tom Kha Gai, which were ranked 13th and 14th, respectively, joined Khao Soi on the list. According to the gourmet website TasteAtlas.com, a well-known treat from northern Thailand is the best soup in the world.
