Siam Discovery The Exploratorium once again affirms its position as a pioneer in avant-garde creativity, inviting everyone to dive into a world of experimentation, creation, and endless cultivation. The spotlight this year is on the Earth Discovery: Go Astro Boy Go! – Mission To Save The World campaign. This campaign underscores their commitment to building a sustainable society and setting an example of environmental awareness. In a groundbreaking event, Siam Discovery collaborates with the globally beloved character, “Go Astro Boy Go!”, to offer a series of thrilling activities from June 5 to June 30, 2024, at Siam Discovery The Exploratorium.
“Astro,” the robotic hero from Japan, along with his companions Astro Kitty and Suzu, has journeyed across the world, observing environmental changes. This time, Astro steps up as an ambassador, rallying everyone to join forces on World Environment Day to save our planet. This mission is the crux of their visit to Thailand.
Siam Discovery emphasizes sustainable business practices through co-creation and shared values, integrating this ethos into their operations. One of their standout initiatives is “ECOTOPIA,” a comprehensive hub for eco-friendly products aimed at creating a better world. In June, they invite everyone to join hands in planet-saving efforts by presenting the Go Astro Boy Go! collection from Earthology Studio. This pioneering brand crafts lifestyle products from recycled fibers, predominantly sourced from plastic bottles. The collection, featuring items like t-shirts, tote bags, hats, and water bottles, will be showcased on the 1st floor of Siam Discovery. Additionally, on the 3rd floor at ODS, discover creative shoulder bags by One More Thing and Go Astro Boy Go!-themed shoulder and laptop bags by Japfac.
Another highlight is the INTERFVCE x Go Astro Boy Go! brand, offering versatile pieces like shorts, cargo pants, jackets, hats, and keychains. The Component x Go Astro Boy Go! line features t-shirts, shirts, jackets, and pants. Eco-conscious shoppers can also engage in enriching activities with Pacsafe, a leading travel bag brand renowned for anti-theft technology. Pacsafe is hosting a special event where customers get a bag iron-on with their purchase, while those who bring their own water bottles receive a 10% discount; these bottles will be recycled into keychains. This event takes place from May 31 to June 14, 2024.
A special treat is the collaboration with Go Astro Boy Go!, displaying an art exhibition featuring exclusive collaborative works from ten renowned Thai artists famous for their outstanding art toys. Each artist joins the mission with Go Astro Boy Go! to save the world by creating unique characters.
Standout creations include Kosol Khajeekrailas’ “Khongrit” dressed in an Astro costume, symbolizing courage and resilience, and reminding everyone to face challenges head-on. There’s also “Nong Orathai,” a stray cat in an Astro outfit, emphasizing community care and the importance of adopting stray animals. Thanawat Srikaew, known for Meowon, presents “Go Astro Boy Go! Shinobi” and “Go Astro Boy Go! Iron Heart,” reflecting Astro’s extraordinary abilities and commitment to justice. Oraya Laddaklom’s “Yui Astro,” a snack-loving squirrel, aims to reduce food waste, promoting mindful consumption.
Traiphak Supawattana, or PUCK, brings “Astro x WORLD BOY,” a tale of a character inspired by Astro, striving to help save the world. Korn Niyaphan’s “Go Fanboy Go” parodies the classic Astro Boy, showing his admiration for the character. Additional artists like Nattapong Rattanachoksirikul (GREENIE & ELFIE), Chawinpon Neungchamnong (HOGKEY), Sarayut Kurakaew (JWON with Dylie), Krisakorn Tantitemit (Gamebros kaze), and Sumit Srimakul (Shew Sheep) will present their unique art toys, available exclusively at Siam Discovery during the event.
Siam Discovery also proudly hosts sustainable brands like GANNI, where over half of their fabrics are recycled or organic, and BAUM UND PFERDGARTEN, known for eco-friendly clothing. Veja, the shoe brand, uses recycled plastic bottles for waterproof mesh in their trainers.
Join Siam Discovery as they invite you to “Come Play With Us!” with Go Astro Boy Go!, the symbol of heroic efforts to save the planet. Dive into a plethora of sustainable activities and explore leading eco-conscious brands from June 5 to June 30, 2024, at Siam Discovery The Exploratorium.
Wow, it’s inspiring to see a major shopping center like Siam Discovery putting so much effort into sustainability. The collaboration with ‘Go Astro Boy Go!’ is a fantastic idea!
It sounds great, but let’s be real. How much impact can a shopping mall really have on the environment? It all seems like a PR stunt to me.
I get your point, Sam, but even small steps can lead to big changes. Encouraging customers to engage in eco-friendly practices is a good start.
Every bit helps. If big corporations take the lead, it can inspire smaller businesses and individuals to follow suit.
I love the idea of products being made from recycled fibers, especially from plastic bottles. It’s a clever way to reduce waste and promote recycling.
It is clever, but consumers need to be educated about recycling correctly. Otherwise, we’re still going to face problems with waste.
You’re right, Martha. Plus, it’s important that these products are durable and not just another form of disposable fashion.
The Pacsafe event sounds awesome! I love their bags and the idea of turning old bottles into keychains is pretty cool.
Yeah, but I hope they don’t just do it for those dates only. Sustainability should be a year-round commitment.
Agreed, sustainability shouldn’t be a trend or a one-off event. It’s a lifestyle that corporations need to adopt permanently.
I’m intrigued by the art exhibition with the Thai artists. It’s a unique way to bring awareness to environmental issues.
Art has a powerful way of making people think. When combined with a character like Astro Boy, it can reach even more people.
Sure, art is nice, but how does it solve actual problems? We need actionable steps, not just pretty pictures.
It’s not all about solving problems immediately, Pete. Art can inspire people and bring attention to important issues which could lead to action.
My kids love Astro Boy! This might be a fun way to teach them about sustainability.
Definitely! Using familiar characters can be a great tool for education. Kids absorb information better when they can relate to it.
Or it could just be another way to sell more stuff to kids. Let’s not pretend everything here is 100% noble.
True, Kyle. But if it gets the message across, I’m okay with it. Better than them learning nothing at all about sustainability.
Has anyone checked if these ‘recycled’ products are really eco-friendly? Sometimes the production process can be just as harmful as making new items.
Good point, Sarah. There should be transparency about how these products are made. Otherwise, it might just be greenwashing.
I’m all for eco-friendly products, but they need to be affordable for everyone. Often these ‘green’ items are too expensive for the average person.
If more companies start producing eco-friendly items, the prices will eventually come down. We need to support these initiatives to make that happen.
The ‘Astro x WORLD BOY’ concept by Traiphak Supawattana sounds interesting. Hope it’s not just a gimmick.
Will there be workshops or talks at the event? It would be great to hear from experts about practical steps we can take at home.
I’m excited about seeing the Go Astro Boy Go! theme. It’s nostalgic and brings back memories from my childhood too.
Same here! Combining nostalgia with a good cause makes it even better.
Nostalgia is nice, but let’s see if this event has a lasting impact. Otherwise, it’s just another way to capitalize on people’s memories.
Does anyone know if they have any initiatives to help local communities get involved? That would really make a difference.
It’s great to see technology being used for sustainable purposes. I wonder if there will be any tech showcases at the event.
I hope they touch on the importance of reducing plastic usage overall, not just recycling it. Prevention is better than cure!
Involving kids in these activities is crucial. They are the future, and teaching them early can bring long-lasting changes.
All this eco-friendly talk is great, but unless governments and large corporations make massive changes, it’s just a drop in the ocean.
Jack, everything counts. If everyone thinks like that, then no one will do anything. Change starts with individuals and community efforts.
I wonder if there will be any incentives for people who participate in these activities. Sometimes a little reward goes a long way.
The partnership with eco-friendly brands like GANNI and Veja is interesting. I’ll be on the lookout for more brands doing similar things.
It’s important these initiatives are more than skin-deep. They need to make substantial changes in their supply chains and practices.
We’ve heard this all before. Until they show real commitment and results, I remain skeptical.
