In a scene reminiscent of an adrenaline-pumping action thriller, a valiant police officer from Pattaya executed a breathtaking rescue of a young girl that left everyone awestruck. The hero of the day, Police Lieutenant Corporal Witoon Thammachat, displayed extraordinary courage as he scaled the exterior of a building on Phratamnak Soi 4. The mission? To save a terrified seven-year-old girl who found herself trapped and alone in a locked fourth-floor apartment.

The tension escalated when the child, unable to connect with her guardian, made a desperate attempt to navigate the precarious edges of the balcony in hopes of reaching a neighboring flat. Enter the deft and fearless Witoon, who wasted no time in responding to the unfolding crisis. His daring climb up four storeys wasn’t just a race against time—it was a race against gravity, danger, and the looming prospect of tragedy.

Much to everyone’s relief, Witoon’s nimble-footed heroism paid off as he scooped the young girl into safety, just before disaster could strike. The spectacle of the rescue instantly transformed Witoon into a community hero, earning him a well-deserved commendation. The head of Pattaya Police Station, Pol. Col. Anek Sarathongyu, bestowed upon him an award under the Royal Thai Police’s initiative recognizing exceptional service—aptly named Doing Good Deserves a Reward, an initiative launched by Commissioner General Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet.

As images of the incredible rescue circulated, the community’s praise for Witoon reverberated online and beyond, shining a light on his unparalleled bravery. Yet, Witoon isn’t the only local lawman to leave a profound mark on Pattaya’s heart.

Sharing the spotlight is Wallop Tasanathanapong, another dedicated officer from the Nong Yai patrol unit. Known in the community as a silent hero, Wallop’s selfless acts of charity are equally stirring. He has ingeniously repurposed his patrol car into what can only be called a “mobile hope van.” Stocked with essential supplies like rice, adult nappies, milk, and blankets, Wallop personally delivers these necessities to the elderly, bedridden, and impoverished locals in the Klong Phlu subdistrict.

His acts of kindness, performed discreetly and often out of his own pocket, have not gone unnoticed. One grateful resident shares, “His dedication to us is something else. My mother speaks highly of Wallop’s unwavering kindness.” Every month, like clockwork, Wallop sets out on his compassionate rounds, offering a sprinkle of dignity and love to those who need it most.

In a bustling city often fixated on more scandalous stories, these two officers’ brave and benevolent deeds remind us of the inherent goodness still flourishing in Pattaya. Their actions not only go viral for their heroism but also highlight the city’s true essence—both compassionate and courageous. Pattaya, often highlighted for its vibrant nightlife and tourism, is now proudly celebrating its heroic sons—the ones lighting up its narrative with courage, selflessness, and a touch of humanity.

Incredible story! Officers like Witoon truly restore my faith in humanity. People always focus on the negatives, but it’s important to highlight these acts of bravery.

    • TinaB April 22, 2025

Absolutely, Joe. But I can’t help but wonder how the girl ended up in that situation in the first place. Where were the parents?

      • Grower134 April 22, 2025

Good point, Tina. But let’s not overshadow Witoon’s heroism. Still, supervision is key!

While Witoon’s actions were commendable, we shouldn’t forget other officers like Wallop. Consistent acts of kindness are heroic too, even if they don’t make headlines.

    • Kate88 April 22, 2025

Exactly, Larry! Wallop’s efforts are just as critical. It’s the everyday heroes who often go unnoticed but make a real difference in people’s lives.

It’s nice to see officers doing good, but isn’t that what they’re supposed to do anyway? They are public servants, after all.

    • Sammy16 April 22, 2025

True, Anna, but their jobs are dangerous, and not every officer goes above and beyond like Witoon and Wallop.

    • Larry D April 22, 2025

Anna, while it’s their duty, the way they perform it determines their greatness. The world could use more officers like them.

I think the real issue is that stories like this are rare because the police face so much criticism that overshadows these positive stories.

    • Joe April 22, 2025

Mark, that’s an interesting perspective. Positive stories deserve more coverage to balance public perception.

Is it just me, or do these stories always feel a bit over-hyped? It’s like they’re trying to distract from other issues.

    • TinaB April 22, 2025

Carlos, sometimes we need feel-good stories to remind us there’s good amidst all the chaos.

Rescuing children, delivering supplies, what’s next? I hope these heroic acts spark a movement of more goodwill across cities globally.

A commendation from the Royal Thai Police is great, but real change would be if this inspired better training and support for all officers.

  9. HappyArtist9 April 22, 2025

Witoon and Wallop are role models. If only more law enforcement officers mirrored their compassion and courage.

    • Larry D April 22, 2025

Agreed, they set a standard that others could aspire to.

As a parent, this story hit me hard. Thank goodness for people like Witoon who step up when we need them most!

  11. Sammy16 April 22, 2025

I wonder if this heroism might lead to policy changes, like more child safety measures in buildings. That would be a real win!

  12. Kate88 April 22, 2025

Witoon’s bravery is an inspiration. But the city needs to invest more in preventing these situations too.

  13. TomB April 22, 2025

I bet Hollywood would love a story like this! Who do you think should play Witoon in a movie? Totally Oscar material!

  14. Jean G April 22, 2025

Pattaya has more depth than people give it credit for. These stories highlight the resilience and humanity of its residents.

  15. TinaB April 22, 2025

While Witoon is a hero, shouldn’t the guardians face scrutiny for leaving the girl alone?

  16. Joe April 22, 2025

Agreed, Tina. It’s crucial to address that aspect so we can prevent repeat scenarios. Kudos to Witoon for stepping in.
