Chattan Kunjara Na Ayudhya, a distinguished deputy governor at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), recently unveiled a delectable new campaign, “Thailand’s Hidden Dishes,” set to take center stage at the highly anticipated “Bangkok International Food Festival.” Running from Friday to next Tuesday, this festival will be hosted at the magnificent CentralWorld venue.

Designed to whet the appetites of gastronomes, the campaign highlights five regional “hidden dishes” that promise to delight your taste buds. These mouthwatering selections include:

  • Central: Savor the rich flavors of Kaeng Hua Node, a divine toddy palm curry originating from Phetchaburi.
  • North: Relish the savory taste of Moo Pad Rak Chu, an exquisite pork dish fried with garlic chives, hailing from Chiang Rai.
  • South: Indulge in the exotic Kaeng Nam Khoei Yod Wai, a sumptuous shrimp paste curry combined with Calameae from the charming region of Phatthalung.
  • Northeast: Dive into the hearty Or Pla, a traditional spicy fish soup with a kick that beckons from Khon Kaen.
  • East: Experience the delicate flavors of Pla Yam Sawat, a delightful coral trout dish native to Trat.

TAT’s underlying objective for promoting these dishes is to encourage tourists to visit the provinces where these culinary masterpieces are sourced. Food lovers will be enthralled by the unique tastes of local cuisine and gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance behind these delicious dishes. Furthermore, the campaign aims to bolster revenue in the provinces and benefit local communities through increased tourism.

To maximize exposure, TAT has strategically partnered with five popular tourism Facebook pages for promotion – Chinotoshare, Koendanai, Sneakout, Pai Ngai Ma Ngai (how to get there), and Pai Kha Pai (Let’s Go). These promotions have already generated over a million views, indicating a growing enthusiasm for the local culinary scene.

The Bangkok International Food Festival is a crucial element in the broader “Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters” initiative. This event, along with its enchanting focus on the “hidden dishes” of the country, serves to showcase the outstanding range and depth of Thailand’s vibrant culinary tradition. Food enthusiasts should not miss this chance to experience an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.
