In an ambitious stride towards a future brimming with technological advancement, Microsoft Thailand launched the THAI Academy: Accelerating Thailand’s AI Future on April 21, 2025. This groundbreaking initiative isn’t just another tech endeavor—it’s a beacon of opportunity poised to bring over a million Thais into the folds of the fast-paced AI revolution. Committed to offering robust upskilling opportunities, the program stands as a testament to Microsoft’s strategic partnership with the Thai government, bolstered by the collaborative spirit of 35 partners from both public and private sectors. By doing so, it hopes to catapult Thailand into the limelight as a leader within the AI-first era, in tune with the nation’s visionary National AI Master Plan.

Digital Economy and Society Minister, Prasert Jantararuangthong, heralded this partnership with enthusiasm, noting that it aligns snugly with Thailand’s aspirations to work alongside global technological powerhouses to enhance international competitiveness. “AI is not merely a buzzword; it’s a transformative powerhouse,” he asserted, “crucial for positioning Thailand on the path of robust growth globally.” Adding a note of gratitude, Microsoft Managing Director, Dhanawat Suthumpun, acknowledged the government’s focus on prioritizing AI upskilling. “Our vision with the THAI Academy is clear—to arm Thais with the indispensable skills needed to thrive amidst dynamic technological changes and trends. The mission: upskill over one million Thais by 2025’s close.”

At the heart of this initiative lies the AI Skills Navigator—an intuitive online platform with a treasure trove of over 200 AI courses crafted by Microsoft and its partners. These courses promise a comprehensive spectrum of learning for everyone, from curious beginners dipping their toes to seasoned professionals scaling new heights. Eager learners can embark on captivating courses like ‘AI Basics’, unraveling the rich tapestry of AI’s history and foundational principles; ‘AI Skills for Everyone’, a quick dive into exploiting Microsoft’s AI tools for everyday marvels; and ‘Azure AI: Zero to Hero’, tailored for budding developers yearning to weave cloud computing with AI to forge innovative solutions.

Beyond the virtual corridors of coursework, the THAI Academy extends its reach through focused sector initiatives. For starters, Microsoft has joined forces with the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) and the Digital Government Development Agency (DGA) to spearhead an ambitious AI training initiative for 100,000 Thai civil servants. Similarly, in education, collaboration with the Ministry of Education aims to train 4,500 teachers to cascade knowledge onto a burgeoning 400,000 students nationwide.

Alongside, the program enhances cybersecurity, partnering with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) to imbue over 300 professionals and 10,000 students with critical AI and cybersecurity insights. Staying committed to inclusive growth, the THAI Academy also collaborates with leading industry titans to empower 20,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Thailand, ensuring every corner benefits from equal learning and employment prospects, as reported by The Nation.

This massive initiative isn’t just a maneuver but a bold stride by Microsoft Thailand towards an AI-driven future, planting seeds for unparalleled digital transformation across the nation. As Thailand sets its eyes on becoming an AI nerve center, the THAI Academy program stands as a pillar, preparing the workforce not just to adapt but to excel, innovate, and lead in the burgeoning era of digital evolution.
