The vibrant “Wan Lai Bang Saen 2023” festival, traditionally celebrated in the eastern seaboard provinces after Songkran, is in full swing and continues until Monday in Bang Saen. This unique festival brings together various activities, including paying homage to Buddha deities, constructing sand sculptures, and indulging in traditional games. Additionally, the two-day festivities showcase concerts, captivating performances, and an array of food and souvenir stalls for visitors to relish.

On Monday, a reverent ceremony will take place, featuring offerings of alms to 37 Buddhist monks and expressions of respect towards the elderly. While the festival envelops its attendees in an enchanting atmosphere, visitors are reminded to comply with specific rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Here’s a summary of the guidelines:

  • No trucks carrying water tanks or amplifiers are permitted at Hat Wonnapha, Tan Lom, and Bang Saen intersections. Trucks with water tanks should take Khao Lam Road to the beach.
  • Drivers must remain sober, and passengers must not sit on the roofs of vehicles.
  • Alcohol sales are prohibited for individuals under 20 years old.
  • Racing or reckless behavior on the roads is not allowed.
  • Carrying weapons is forbidden.
  • Nudity or inappropriate clothing in public spaces is not acceptable.
  • Loud music is not permitted.
  • Usage of powder or high-pressure water guns is prohibited.

Beyond the Bang Saen festivities, Pattaya City will host its Wan Lai event on Tuesday at Wat Chai Mongkol and along the picturesque beachfront. Chonburi has planned three additional Wan Lai events: at the Na Klua area on April 18, at Bang Saray Beach on April 20, and at Ban Bueng District Office and Wat Bueng Bowon Sathit from April 21-23. In Rayong, attendees can experience the “Wan Lai Pluak Daeng” festival on Monday at Baan Pluak Daeng sub-district.

Lastly, don’t miss the traditional Mon festival taking place at Samut Prakan’s Phra Padaeng District Office from April 21-23. With fascinating customs, impressive performances, and delightful food options, the Wan Lai festival and its related events promise a truly unforgettable experience for all visitors.
