SMEG, a globally leading kitchen appliance brand from Italy, recently held an impressive event, the “Smeg Galileo Launch 2024,” to unveil their latest product line. The spotlight of this launch was their newest innovation in ovens, aptly named “GALILEO.” This grand unveiling featured the culinary artistry of Chef Gerard Villaret Horcajo from Elements, Inspired by Ciel Bleu, a prestigious one-Michelin-star restaurant. Chef Horcajo dazzled attendees with a sumptuous 6-course meal, each dish meticulously prepared using the revolutionary Omnichef oven, showcasing its exceptional innovation and cutting-edge technology. The event saw an enthusiastic turnout from SMEG Thailand’s partners in development, interior design, and architecture, including Sansiri, AP, KVIK, RCD Design, Noble, and DWP Design, all of whom enjoyed a special dining experience at the SMEG Thonglor showroom.

Khun Thanatporn Suensilpong, Brand Managing Director of Pen K Intertrading Co., Ltd., emphasized the primary goal of the event: to introduce the Smeg Galileo series oven to both customers and the general public. The event aimed to highlight the oven’s advanced features and its ability to provide a unique cooking experience. Attendees were treated to a series of specially curated menus that demonstrated the Omnichef oven’s multifaceted capabilities, blending traditional, steam, and microwave cooking techniques into a seamless culinary process. This innovative approach allows users to prepare a diverse range of dishes simultaneously with a single appliance. The launch underscored SMEG’s unwavering commitment to culinary technology and the art of cooking.

The event kicked off with a tour of the showroom for esteemed guests, including Khun Prasert Trakranvachirahut (Executive Vice President from Sansiri), Khun Boonchai Jankrajanglerd (Chief Supply Chain Officer from AP), Khun Kiti Roemcharoendee (Managing Director from RCD Design), Khun Meedatch Inthong (Design Director from DWP Design), and Khun Thanaphan Thanusiri (Senior Director from Noble). They had the opportunity to explore the innovation behind the Galileo Omnichef oven firsthand. Following the showroom visit, the guests were invited to an exquisite lunch experience orchestrated by Chef Gerard Villaret Horcajo. Every dish was a masterpiece, designed to not just please the palate but also to enchant the eyes.

The culinary journey began with the delectable Dry Aged Haranaka Chutoro, featuring succulent tuna belly paired with Bafun Uni and an aromatic nori-infused sauce, truly elevating the flavors of the sea as an appetizer. This delightful start was followed by Jean Larnaudie Foie Gras, a dish that left an indelible impression on all in attendance. The highlight of the event was unquestionably the Galileo Multicooking Technology Signature Dish. This centerpiece featured Amadai fish, cooked to perfection at 180 degrees in the Omnichef oven, which demonstrated precision heat control using the traditional cooking function.

The culinary adventure continued with a luxurious butter-poached lobster, cooked slowly to retain its tender succulence, paired with crispy lotus root baked to a delightful crunch using the oven’s microwave function. Carrots, steamed and baked together, showcased the oven’s versatility in blending various cooking techniques seamlessly. The next dish, the Chiang Mai Zucchini Flower filled with cheese and fragrant truffle, was a flavorful and aromatic revelation. Guests were then treated to a choice between Saddle of Lamb, Dry Aged Mikandai, or the exquisite Nagasaki Wagyu A5 Striploin as the main course, each option promising an unparalleled dining experience.

The meal concluded with a decadent Okayama Shimizu White Peach dessert. The sweet and tangy essence of white peaches was perfectly harmonized with custard lemon from Cha-am and lemon verbena, served on a crumbly almond tart, providing a delightful end to the culinary journey.

SMEG’s dedication to intricacy, dedication, quality, and innovation was vividly showcased through Chef Gerard’s meticulous attention to detail and enthusiasm for exceptional cuisine. This shared commitment underlined the brand’s promise to provide a remarkable culinary experience through the art of meal preparation.

Wow, SMEG always goes above and beyond with their events! Chef Gerard must have made the food taste even better with that high-tech oven.

    • ChefMaster92 July 18, 2024

Absolutely! It’s not just about the oven, but the skill of the chef too. But I wonder if the average consumer will really need such advanced technology in their home?

      • Jane Doe July 18, 2024

I see your point. Maybe it’s more for those who love to cook gourmet meals. It’s definitely a niche market.

      • FoodieBob July 18, 2024

Honestly, it’s about the joy of cooking and experimenting. Anyone can learn to use these features with time.

    • Larry D July 18, 2024

These events are just marketing gimmicks. What’s important is how it performs in a real kitchen over time.

  2. ChefKara July 18, 2024

If you ask me, mixing traditional, steam, and microwave cooking in one oven is revolutionary! Opens up so many possibilities in the kitchen.

    • techieTom July 18, 2024

Sure, it’s innovative. But do these combined functions really work well together or just look good on a spec sheet?

      • ChefKara July 18, 2024

Well, if a Michelin-star chef vouches for it, I’d say that’s a pretty good indication that it works well!

  3. Joe July 18, 2024

Sounds fancy and expensive. Can someone tell me the price?

    • smeg_fan July 18, 2024

From what I’ve seen, SMEG ovens generally start at around $2,500, but this new model might be a lot more given its advanced features.

    • Sarah L. July 18, 2024

Yeah, definitely not for the average household budget. Only for those who truly love cooking and can afford it.

  5. Laura N. July 18, 2024

I don’t understand why anyone needs such a complicated oven. Simpler is better.

    • gourmet_george July 18, 2024

It’s not about need, Laura. It’s about having the option to create restaurant-quality dishes at home.

    • Laura N. July 18, 2024

Fair enough, George. But for everyday cooking, it’s overkill.

    • Culinary Chris July 18, 2024

For some, cooking is an art and a passion. This gives them the tools they need.

  6. Heather M July 18, 2024

Chef Gerard’s dishes sound incredible. The dry aged tuna belly is making my mouth water just reading about it!

I’m more interested in the tech side of things. How exactly does this oven merge traditional, steam, and microwave methods?

    • engineer_ellis July 18, 2024

It’s all about the engineering behind the technology. Controlled heat distribution and multi-functionality are key here.

    • Geoff C. July 18, 2024

I’m guessing it uses separate heating elements for each function and combines them as needed.

    • techieTom July 18, 2024

Its AI probably controls and optimizes the cooking process. Fascinating stuff!

  8. Nina P July 18, 2024

It’s great to see interior designers and architects appreciating SMEG’s innovations. It means these ovens are not just functional but beautiful too.

  9. grumpy_grandpa July 18, 2024

Back in my day, all you needed was a fire and a good pan. Modern appliances are making us lazy.

    • modern_mary July 18, 2024

But grandpa, technology helps us save time and get consistent results!

    • grumpy_grandpa July 18, 2024

I suppose, but it takes away from the essence of cooking. Nothing beats simplicity.

  10. Liliana R July 18, 2024

Where can I get one? And will SMEG offer any demonstrations for the general public?

    • smeg_fan July 18, 2024

You can check it out at SMEG Thonglor or their other stores. And yes, they often have demos!

  11. Mike22 July 18, 2024

I wonder how much energy this oven uses. With all these features, it must consume a lot!

  12. Ben July 18, 2024

Honestly, it’s nice to see a brand that prioritizes technology and culinary expertise. Really sets SMEG apart.

    • TechieSara July 18, 2024
