In an innovative collaboration with global partners Nanoracks LLC and mu Space and Advanced Technology Co Ltd, CP Foods is on a mission to elevate the safety standards of Thai chicken to meet the rigorous requirements of space-grade cuisine.
CP Foods’ objective is to comply with the stringent space safety standards by subjecting the chickens involved in the project to thorough certification processes. This will render them suitable for consumption by astronauts, in turn solidifying CP Foods’ global recognition and showcasing its commitment to adhering to the demanding Space Food Safety Standards, which are in line with NASA’s strict food safety requisites.
To further this ambitious endeavor, CP Foods will hold the “Thai Food – Mission to Space” forum, a gathering of international experts such as former NASA astronaut Michael Massimino and former NASA food scientist Vickie Kloeris, as well as individuals from the scientific, medical, and livestock development sectors. The forum’s primary goal is to discuss the significance of meeting space standards for Thai food, explore innovative transformations in the Thai livestock industry, and evaluate the potential future implications for the sector.
Prasit Boondoungprasert, CEO of CP Foods, emphasized the company’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of its chicken meat. By aspiring to meet Space Food Safety Standards, CP Foods aims to establish itself among the world’s most reliable meat brands. The CEO also guaranteed that CP Foods would subject their chickens to exhaustive safety and quality checks, including inspections for residues and contaminants, in keeping with NASA’s stipulations.
Citing its long-term implications on their health, Massimino discussed the critical need for astronauts to consume residue-free and safe food.
Kloeris implored CP Foods to adhere to strict safety and nutritional standards, ensuring their chicken was devoid of antibiotics, chemical residue, and harmful pathogens. She explained that this initiative would not only foster the well-being of astronauts, but also improve global food safety standards and enhance the reputation of Thai chicken meat as a trustworthy brand.
Drawing from her vast experience as a NASA food scientist, Kloeris underscored the importance of providing astronauts with food that meets the highest safety standards, along with balanced nutrition and zero contamination. She commended CP Foods’ chicken meat production standards, especially the practice of raising chickens without antibiotics or hormones, which adheres to NASA’s food safety protocols.
The initial menu item bound for space will be the Thai classic dish, “Thai Holy Basil with Chicken.” When queried about other Thai dishes he would have loved to see in space after experiencing Thai cuisine, Massimino suggested “Chicken Pad Thai” and “Thai Coconut Chicken” soup as commendable additions.
CP Foods’ venture into space is poised to redefine global food industry standards, reflecting positively on the international reputation of Thai cooking.
