PATTAYA – In a chilling discovery, the body of a Lao woman was found in the bathroom of her condominium, her throat deeply cut. The police are yet to determine the cause, whether it points to foul play or an act of self-harm.
Pol Capt Damchaluai Samkanying, deputy inspector at the Nong Prue station, received the distressing call about the incident at around 6 p.m. on Thursday. The location was pinpointed to a condo in Soi Ban Noen Rot Fai.
Immediately, a team of police officers, alongside a doctor from Bang Lamung Hospital and rescue workers, hurried to the site. On the fifth floor, within the compact condo unit, an unsettling scene awaited them: a 28-year-old woman lying in a pool of her own blood, her face eerily turned upward. The gruesome wound on her neck told a harrowing tale, one that seemed inflicted by a razor-sharp object.
Based on preliminary assessments, the police deduced that she had been lying there for around 12 hours. The discovery of two knives in the sink—a large kitchen knife and a sharp fruit knife, each about 15 centimeters in length—added to the macabre puzzle.
As the investigation progressed, an unexpected twist was introduced by a friend of the deceased. This friend, known only by the moniker Nong, aged 25, recounted a call she received from the deceased’s older sister around 2 p.m. on Thursday. The sister, concerned over her inability to reach her sibling, implored Nong to check on her.
Nong hurried to the condo but was confronted with a locked door. Entering the condo required assistance from the management, and eventually, a locksmith’s expertise. Once they managed to open the door, they were met with sheer horror; the boyfriend, identified as Chang, a 42-year-old Chinese national, bolted out of the room, panic-stricken and shouting, “She’s dead.” Nong immediately contacted the authorities, but Chang vanished from the scene.
When the police finally tracked Chang down for questioning, he appeared disoriented and still in shock. He revealed a relationship history of three years with the deceased. The night before the tragic discovery, events had taken a bizarre turn. Chang recalled his girlfriend’s return to the condo, visibly inebriated. She seemed consumed by paranoia, claiming an ominous ghost was pursuing her. In her heightened state of distress, she expelled Chang from the room and locked the door, leaving him bewildered outside.
Chang spent that night at a friend’s house, plagued by his inability to communicate with her. Terrified by the looming threat of police due to his expired visa, he requested Nong to check on his girlfriend.
As forensic experts delved deeper, the room told a telling tale. They discovered only the deceased’s fingerprints on the knives and other surfaces, dampening the prospect of an external assailant. Further adding to the tragedy, traces of ketamine and crystal meth were uncovered within the room, painting a potentially complex picture of the victim’s final hours.
While the lines between homicide and self-harm remain blurred, one thing is evident: the woman’s final moments were shrouded in despair and darkness. Authorities continue to peel back the layers of this mystifying case in hopes of delivering a definitive resolution. As Pattaya grapples with this unsettling incident, the pursuit of justice for the deceased continues unwaveringly.
This is such a tragic incident. I can’t help but wonder if her boyfriend had something to do with it.
If only the deceased’s fingerprints were on the knives, it seems more likely she took her own life.
People can be clever about staging these things. Don’t forget the drugs found in the room.
Exactly. The whole situation with Chang running away is suspicious. Why start running if you have nothing to hide?
Did anyone think about the drugs? Adding ketamine and meth into the mix can make people do crazy things.
True, drugs can mess up someone’s mind. But wouldn’t a ghost paranoia be a bit over the top?
Both ketamine and methamphetamine can induce paranoia and hallucinations depending on the dose and psychological state of the user.
We need to wait for the final investigation! It’s easy to jump to conclusions.
Sure, but from the info here, it seems like a case of psychosis leading to suicide.
Sometimes the simplest explanation is the correct one. A thorough investigation will reveal the truth.
What about the boyfriend’s expired visa? Could it be that he wanted to kill her and flee the country?
That’s reaching. His expired visa would put him in trouble, not necessarily make him a murderer.
Such a sad end. We need better mental health support to prevent tragedies like this.
Mental health services should’ve been her priority over drugs.
Alcohol and drugs often cloud sound judgment, especially when someone is mentally unhealthy.
Ghosts, drugs, and an expired visa? This story has it all. Truly tragic.
Why aren’t there more safety regulations in these condos? Where was the security when she was so distressed?
Security might not have noticed anything unusual if she was just seen as drunk.
What’s clear is that drugs played a big role. We need to address substance abuse issues seriously.
Couldn’t agree more. Substance abuse is a silent killer.
But not everyone who uses ends up dead. There’s more to this story.
Boyfriend sounds fishy af. Why would he leave her alone knowing she had problems?
Maybe he didn’t know how severe her problems were. Denial is a thing.
It’s shocking that they found traces of ketamine and meth. How rampant is drug use in Pattaya?
Very. It’s a major issue that often gets overlooked.
Does anyone else think this could have been premeditated by the boyfriend? Staging her death as a suicide.
Or maybe she was overwhelmed by her paranoia with ghosts. Fleeing wasn’t the smartest move, though.
Chang should have stayed and helped clear things up instead of running. Makes him look guilty. What a mess!
The police are doing their best, but honestly, a lot of these deaths go unsolved. It’s frustrating.
That’s unfortunately true. Hopefully, they handle this one better.
This occurrence only highlights the importance of community and support systems. No one should have to spiral alone.
