Tragic Murder in Phitsanulok: Ratchada’s Life and Legacy

In the serene northern province of Phitsanulok, a shocking incident unfolded yesterday, sending ripples through the quiet community. At around 9 AM on June 10th, officers from Wang Thong Police Station rushed to respond to a chilling crime scene, located at a house doubling as a grocery store in Wang Thong district. The victim was none other than the store owner herself, a 44-year-old woman known as Ratchada, affectionately called Mod by those who knew her.

The morning had barely started when a medical team from Wang Thong Hospital confirmed the worst—Ratchada had succumbed to her injuries right at the scene. The attack was brutal, leaving at least 30 stab wounds on her back, with another piercing her chest. The horrific act took place just as Mod was preparing to head to the fresh market, her daily routine interrupted violently by an unexpected visit from her alleged lover.

Juti, the neighbor who became an unintended witness, recounted the ordeal to Channel 3. According to Juti, Mod barely had time to react before the assailant, determined and relentless, converged on her. Desperately, she tried to flee and sought sanctuary with Juti, collapsing before him. Helpless, he watched in horror as the attacker, undeterred by Juti’s shouts, mercilessly drove the knife into Mod repeatedly.

In an attempt to halt the relentless aggression, Juti courageously intervened, only for the attacker to turn the knife towards him, attempting another assault. Fortunately, Juti managed to evade, though haunted by regret for being unable to save Mod.

Meanwhile, Mod’s husband and son arrived at the heart-wrenching scene. Overcome with grief, her husband fainted at the sight of his beloved wife’s lifeless body. He recalled speaking to her that morning, unaware it was their final conversation. The tragic news of the attack spread rapidly, painting a picture of senseless violence that seemed out of place in this close-knit community.

The attacker, identified as 50-year-old Wuttipong Nimman—a singer at a prominent local restaurant—was apprehended at the scene. The evidence, a chilling 30-centimeter knife, was recovered by the police. In a confession following his arrest, Wuttipong claimed a prolonged affair of over three years with Mod, only to learn recently that she had been married for over a decade. His discovery turned into grim desperation, fueled by his own troubling health news: according to various reports, he had been diagnosed with HIV shortly before the attack.

Mod’s dual life as a grocery store owner and a singer in a local restaurant’s house band was known to many, including her colleague, Kunasorn. Working together for over two decades, Kunasorn described Mod as a warm, supportive presence who treated her fellow band members like family. Mournfully, Kunasorn noted that Wuttipong was not involved with the band, having never crossed paths with him.

Ton, Mod’s 18-year-old son, provided another perspective on the suspect. He recalled Wuttipong’s frequent visits to their home, often asking Mod for loans. Despite this closeness, Ton claimed no romantic links were apparent to him, suspecting the fatal motive lay instead in his mother’s refusal to lend more money.

As the case unfolds, Wuttipong faces charges under Section 288 of the Thai Criminal Code, with penalties ranging from life imprisonment to the death sentence. The gravity of intentional murder underscores the severity of the crime, setting the stage for a legal battle ahead, where further investigations and charges may yet emerge.

While the village grapples with emotions of loss and disbelief, Mod’s memory endures among those who loved her, each person piecing together moments of laughter and kindness that colored her life—a life cut tragically short.

This story is absolutely heartbreaking. I can’t believe someone could do this to Mod. My heart goes out to her family.

    • Nick June 11, 2025

It’s tragic, but we must also consider Wuttipong’s mental state. It sounds like he was desperate and afraid.

      • Anna B June 11, 2025

I get that, but it doesn’t justify his horrific actions. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

    • Jenny June 11, 2025

I agree. It’s always the innocent who suffer in these situations. I hope her family gets justice.

Why is everyone jumping to conclusions? We haven’t even heard Wuttipong’s side properly yet. Could be more to this story.

    • Max91 June 11, 2025

He confessed, didn’t he? What more do you want?

      • grower134 June 11, 2025

Confessions can be coerced. I want the full story and real justice, not a witch hunt.

    • Sophie L June 11, 2025

Sure, but confessing doesn’t happen without some truth behind it. Stabbing someone 30 times seems pretty intentional.

  3. Laura June 11, 2025

This case really highlights how domestic issues can escalate to violence. It’s a huge problem worldwide, not just in Thailand.

    • JohnDoe June 11, 2025

Couldn’t agree more. There needs to be more support for people in these situations before it gets to this point.

      • Laura June 11, 2025

Exactly. Intervention and mental health support are crucial. We should all advocate for that.

  4. Tom H. June 11, 2025

I’m honestly shocked that a seemingly peaceful community could have such a dark underbelly.

  5. Ali_McCool June 11, 2025

Let’s not be too surprised. Small communities often have hidden dramas. This is just more visible because of the tragedy.

    • Nina R June 11, 2025

True, but I wish it hadn’t ended in such a brutal way. Heartbreaking for all involved.

  6. Charlie K June 11, 2025

The fact he tried to kill a witness too… can’t imagine the fear Juti must have felt.

    • Lisa1978 June 11, 2025

Juti is a hero in my eyes. It takes a lot to stand up to violence like that.

      • Charlie K June 11, 2025

For sure! I’m glad he made it out alive, but he’ll probably have a lot to process.

  7. educate_on June 11, 2025

This case is a painful reminder of the dangers of concealed violence in relationships. More education is needed in acknowledging the signs and seeking help early on.

  8. Brandon Lee June 11, 2025

I wonder if there’s any truth to what Wuttipong said about Mod leading a double life? Not that it justifies anything but it might give context.

    • Sarah78 June 11, 2025

Seems unlikely. From what I read, she was well-respected and loved. We shouldn’t slander the victim.

  9. Michael N June 11, 2025

The HIV diagnosis Wuttipong received likely pushed him over the edge, but that’s no excuse for murder.

  10. Chris June 11, 2025

We need to consider what drove Wuttipong to such desperation, though. Was it the health diagnosis or something else entirely?

  11. Lucy June 11, 2025

I’m left wondering how much money actually changed hands between Mod and Wuttipong. Could it have been a significant amount?

    • Tom H. June 11, 2025

It might not even be about the amount. People act irrationally over small debts too.

  12. TheLark June 11, 2025

People often don’t realize the impact of mental illness until it’s too late. This case shows the need for better mental health support everywhere.

  13. Davis G June 11, 2025

I think there’s more than meets the eye. Could Mod’s family have known more about Wuttipong’s visits than they’re saying?

    • Mike June 11, 2025

It’s possible. Families sometimes keep secrets, hoping to ‘manage’ issues internally.

  14. Nancy N. June 11, 2025

I can’t help but think of Mod’s son. Losing your mother in such a way must be devastating.
