In a heart-wrenching tale that has captivated the attention of many, a Chinese model named Yang Zeqi has seemingly vanished into thin air during his visit for an acting role in Thailand. The calendar pages have turned, counting two weeks since anyone has heard a peep from the once-eager young actor. In a courageous bid to find answers, Yang Hai Tao, the father of the missing model, has stepped into the limelight, making an earnest appeal to Pol Gen Kittharath Punpetch, Thailand’s national police chief. His plea is simple yet profound: hasten efforts to unravel the mystery of his son’s disappearance.

With a mix of hope and desperation, Yang Hai Tao was accompanied by Lawyer Ratchapon Sirisakorn to deliver this urgent request. Their quest began on a note that was filled with excitement and promise. On December 21, Yang Zeqi embarked on his journey to Thailand, his eyes shining with dreams of a blossoming film career. A sense of unease crept in just eight days later, on December 29, when he reached out to his family through WeChat. This was not any ordinary video call. His mother watched with bated breath as Zeqi appeared before her, a shadow of distress cast over his face. Bruises, clear as day, marred the area around one of his eyes.

“It felt like I was watching a bad dream,” exclaimed Mr. Yang. Perhaps even more disturbing was Zeqi’s peculiar behavior of keeping both hands flat on the table throughout the call, instead of the usual phone-clutching gesture. This bizarre posture only added to the growing suspicion that someone else might have been orchestrating the entire call.

New revelations bubbled to the surface—no cries for help, no apparent SOS signals during the conversation—only intensified the elder Yang’s dread that his son was being watched. Haunted by these images, the family found themselves knocking on the doors of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD) to file a missing person report, though with little to show for it so far.

The plot thickens with whisperings of Yang Zeqi possibly venturing beyond the borders of Thailand, wandering into nearby lands. Despite this uncertainty, the last known breadcrumbs he left lead back to Trat, thanks to snippets of communication he shared with friends and his girlfriend.

The investigation hinges on fragile threads of evidence, including a set of photographs featuring the license plates of two vehicles that had carried Zeqi to parts unknown. Adding another layer to the conundrum is a batch of snapshots Zeqi sent to friends just before fading from view—exhibit A under police scrutiny.

At this pivotal juncture, Lawyer Mr. Ratchapon has called upon the powers that be across three nations—Thailand, China, and Myanmar—to collaboratively untangle this international puzzle. The quest for Zeqi, the young model, continues, shrouded in shadows, as each lead is chased down. As the clock ticks and the case unfolds, the hopes and prayers for Yang Zeqi’s safe return echo across the hearts of his loved ones, and indeed, the world.

This situation is horrifying. I can’t believe that someone could just vanish like this.

It really is scary. Thailand has had its fair share of missing persons cases. I’m worried this could end tragically.

      • YangFan123 January 17, 2025

Let’s stay positive. Hopefully, the international cooperation will help solve this case quickly.

Maybe there’s more to this story. Could he have run into some shady business?

  2. Josh R. January 16, 2025

It’s a shame the media isn’t covering this more. Zeqi’s story deserves more attention.

    • CeeJay January 17, 2025

Agreed. But sometimes media gets distracted by more ‘interesting’ stories that aren’t necessarily more important.

    • Emily T. January 17, 2025

I think the geopolitical aspects are downplayed. China, Thailand, and Myanmar working together is not something you see every day.

  3. Xiao Ning January 17, 2025

I am appalled that this happened in Thailand. Can foreign tourists ever feel safe?

    • Globetrkr999 January 17, 2025

Thailand is usually safe, but every country has its dark sides. We just need more awareness.

How much do celebrities really matter to the world? Shouldn’t everyone get equal attention?

    • Leo January 17, 2025

Celebrities can draw attention to issues, which might help more than harm in situations like this.

    • Helen K. January 17, 2025

It’s true, but this is a missing person’s case. Every life matters equally!

  5. Dylan H. January 17, 2025

No communication from him was a clear SOS. But nothing seems to be happening quickly.

    • DogLover87 January 17, 2025

The systems take too long to respond, especially in a cross-border investigation like this.

Trafficking is a huge problem that isn’t just limited to Thailand. This could happen to anyone, anywhere.

  7. Julia January 17, 2025

I feel for his parents. The uncertainty must be unbearable.

    • Timothy January 17, 2025

I can’t imagine not knowing if your child is safe. It’s a nightmare scenario.

  8. Ashley P. January 17, 2025

Do you think the authorities are doing enough? Or is this going to get swept under the rug?

  9. Mike T. January 17, 2025

I have little faith in international cooperation actually accomplishing anything.

    • Emily T. January 17, 2025

You’d be surprised, Mike. There have been successes in the past, albeit not publicized much.

  10. Joe January 17, 2025

What if it’s a stunt? Actors nowadays pull all sorts of tricks for exposure.

    • YangFan123 January 17, 2025

That would be so cruel to his family if true. We can’t jump to conclusions yet.

  11. Seeker43 January 17, 2025

Let’s hope we hear some good news soon. It would be tragic for his dreams to go unfulfilled.

  12. Gina R. January 17, 2025

It scares me to travel now. Stuff like this isn’t supposed to happen.

    • Xiao Ning January 17, 2025

Don’t let fear control you. Being cautious and sensible goes a long way.

  13. BrendaK January 17, 2025

I heard about a similar case a few years ago, and they never found the person…

    • Globetrkr999 January 17, 2025

Those are the exceptions, not the rule. Let’s hope Zeqi’s case is resolved quickly.

Every missing person case is a blow to humanity. How is justice served if we’re not aware?
