Cost of a railway ticket between Thailand and Malaysia is about 50 baht (RM7)

Padang Besar in Malaysia and Hat Yai in southern Thailand are connected by the Shuttle Train. Tickets are only 50 baht, or 7 Malaysian ringgits, and the trip takes around an hour. Two trains each day (number 947) will go from Thailand to Mayasia at 7:30am and 2:00pm (number 949). The service was briefly suspended by the Malaysian government in March 2020 as a Covid-19 prevention measure, however it will resume operations on Friday, July 15. Before boarding their train to Thailand, Malaysians traveling by train into that country must check in with Thai immigration officials at Padang Besar station.
